The union leadership is a joke.

Post by twiddledumb »

After reading the agreement I see zero improvement AGAIN in our working conditions worse still it looks like RM basically got everything they want for a relatively small pay rise. I have to conclude the union leadership are useless at their job. What are they getting paid for? I never once was asked in person or via letter about what I wanted the unions top priorities and redlines to negotiate to be, not once. They basically never asked the membership anything about what kind of deal they wanted. Why? It's supposed to be our union we should have a say about what our priorities are instead of a bunch of overpaid union bosses going into a negotiation with it seems like the only goal is get a pay rise and RM can do what ever they want.

Previous deals have seen the union raise the white flag on small incremental changes RM wanted to do in exchange for their usual bribe to get members to vote for it, but this deal goes totally OTT, this is not small incremental change, what they are proposing is massive change to our job and what do we get in exchange? a small pay rise and another hour reduced from our working week, not a reduction of 1 hours work, no we have to work an hour faster to do the same workload. This is too much, the union bosses need to go if they think this deal is acceptable. If they think that is the best deal then we need to get rid of them and get people in there that can do better. As you can guess I voted NO.

Well said, its's a terrible deal.

Do people really expect RM to...

1. Do revisions in every DO (when it will most likely cost them a fortune).

2. Do these revisions, see the results and still give us a SWW and a pay rise.

I don't think so.

VOTE NO.

My office rep doesn't seem to think so, his attitude is

"you might as well just work, what you gonna do go home and watch tv all day"

It's 2021 not 1900.

The leadership is totally out of touch with what the job is actually like. This "deal" has proved it, and expecting people to vote with so many unknown issues shows contempt for the membership.

sorry but the cwu are very much in touch with us, they won't answer any important questions put to them as they've not got time, but bill from burnley fred from felixstowe and graham from grimsby deserves a 2 minute mention that they support us

I think we all need to look at the bigger picture here and just remember where we were going under Rico Back where he got the RM heirarchy ready for war with the CWU and I’m sure we would have reacted positively by striking but the company and our job security would have been demoralised. The union has got us back and recognised as a major stakeholder in the business, you can’t put a price on that but it’s a major achievement by the CWU.
I don’t know of any other employer out there that’s giving a pay rise even Doctors and Nurses are facing another pay freeze and consider the job security commitments in the agreement you can’t put a price on that neither but once again it’s a major achievement in maintaining that on our behalf.
As for the matters still to be agreed don’t forget they’ve still got to be agreed with the CWU our elected Representatives and I don’t think it’s in their makeup to want to do a bad deal and don’t forget our postal executive are posties too.

I think the CWU has done a very good job here and I’m voting for the agreement.

yes. Same old , revisions in the office, unfortunately people can only go at there set pace, oh they will implement them alright, and it will look impressive, but it wont work ,the one thing royal mail and the unions not counted on , is that the postperson can only do what they can do dailly, ive seen the last year, the workers are magnificent , but we are at the point where i dont think we can go much further,so in october when we input the new revisions we will see what happens this when the truth will come, not to the fault of us the postpersons willing to do our job to the fullest, it will just be a step to far, REMEMBER THIS we are human beings not machines, so who thinks this is doable...............
it is what it is, THE REVISIONS WONT WORK.

Rico made a fortune ,and the union were laughing at him
Buying shares at just over a pound and now they are over £4 .plus the money he got for joining and leaving .
If they claim that as a victory ,no wonder they think this deal is a victory .it’s the most vague ,one sided ,agreement I’ve ever read
Vote no ,look beyond the carrot and see what you will have when the £300 or so back pay is spent
Don’t forget for the 2 years this dispute has lasted ,you have given your 100k salary spokesmen ,£300 in subs
As op said .they are out of touch
