Why isn't Mask policy being enforced?
I get all over the RMG network and generally speaking, most places are pretty good with the mask wearing. Wearing them on the chin or not at all i would say runs at around the 10% mark.
Why is it, that at the National Distribution Centre, and also up the road at Atherstone, that the percentage is flipped? Mainly casuals, but also RM managers, Bay marshals not wearing them at all, or wearing them on the chin.
I find it absolutely infuriating, as I'm trying my best to keep others safe and to keep my family safe by not spreadng the virus, and in these two locations, nobody seems to give a flying f*ck!
Even as the tannoy is announcing "RM policy on masks", this is carrying on, implicitly permitted by management.
I've cornered a manager in each of these places about it and they don't give a damn. They seemed irritated by me telling them that it was out of order, and only one tried to give an excuse by attempting to convince me that all ten of the casuals i pointed at had cards like she did. "What about the two managers standing behind you with no masks?" No answer...
Is the union trying to protect us and ours from this threat? Not that I can see, sadly.

There’s been several posters complaining about NDC adherence to covid safety, and considering they’ve had covid fatalities in that building all the way through the pandemic I find it amazing.Shandy123 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2021, 17:54I get all over the RMG network and generally speaking, most places are pretty good with the mask wearing. Re: Why isn't Mask policy being enforced?
This week i politely asked a driver (inside the RDC) to pull his mask up over his nose, he complied, five minutes later his mask was back to where it was so i said "do you have a problem with raising your mask?" reply "I have a medical condition" My comment "well why are you wearing a mask at all, you may as well take it off" response .. He removes his mask!!.

Because there are no consequences for refusing to wear one

As yet uncomfirmed but I've been informed that yesterday Royal Mail issued instructions to managers to question reasons for non-compliance of mask wearing giving managers permission to seek confirmatory letters from Doctors ( at employees cost of between £25 to £50).
As I say we're still waiting on confirmation as to whether it's a business wide position or just rogue managers but it appears legit.

You even need a doctors note to wear non-RM footwear ffs, no reason the same policy shouldn't apply to masks during a lethal bloody pandemic.

And what will the union response be?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑21 Jan 2021, 22:05As yet uncomfirmed but I've been informed that yesterday Royal Mail issued instructions to managers to question reasons for non-compliance of mask wearing giving managers permission to seek confirmatory letters from Doctors ( at employees cost of between £25 to £50).

Will Mr Joyce eat his words or will he be on board with the initiative?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Given the number of words involved that might not be a healthy option.

After the visit from Inspectors recently the mask wearing at NDC improved for a couple of days, now it’s back to what it was before. I’m sure they will be visiting again.

This, if confirmed would be problematic for me. I haven't any supporting evidence mainly because I haven't had any condition confirmed, I haven't actually been to the GP for any treatment in over 20 yrs.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑21 Jan 2021, 22:05As yet uncomfirmed but I've been informed that yesterday Royal Mail issued instructions to managers to question reasons for non-compliance of mask wearing giving managers permission to seek confirmatory letters from Doctors ( at employees cost of between £25 to £50).

Re: Why isn't Mask policy being enforced?
Will also RM/Union provide a health risk assessment for a long term use of mask wearing or they expect an employee to do one himself?
They will not do one as side effects are bigger than any benefits and therefore they hide behind the narrative that it is a law but refuse to inform about the side effects.

Re: Why isn't Mask policy being enforced?
Yes, you constantly see NHS staff who've worn masks for 20-30 years keeling over with mask related deaths. They will not do one as side effects are bigger than any benefits
Lawyers are lining up to represent hundreds of thousands of people who've been wearing masks in semi-conductor clean rooms since the 1980s and those Asian countries like Japan where wearing masks is pretty much a cultural thing have hospitals full of people with medical issues related to wearing masks.
Or maybe not....
Masks weren't invented in 2020.

Doctors everywhere aren't issuing any sort of letter/certificate or any other proof of an exemption for anyone so I don't know how that one is going to work.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑21 Jan 2021, 22:05As yet uncomfirmed but I've been informed that yesterday Royal Mail issued instructions to managers to question reasons for non-compliance of mask wearing giving managers permission to seek confirmatory letters from Doctors ( at employees cost of between £25 to £50).

Re: Why isn't Mask policy being enforced?
We all got the same brief to wear your mask or produce a doctor’s letter. Some colleagues are saying a boss was going round today telling those who don’t have a mask/ visor on to get it on or conduct issues will arise. Several staff who never wore a mask form day 1 citing medical reasons are now wearing one but others have threatened to go off with stress if “forced” to wear a mask.
