Re: Why you should support the agreement
I understand the industry has evolved and we have to move with the times etc and with that the agreement has more pros than cons. Sunday working really, REALLY makes my pen hover over a NO though

Like it or not, it's only a matter of time before Sunday working gets brought in

Re: Why you should support the agreement
Many employers work Sundays but the good ones appreciate that it's not just a normal working day and reward their employees accordingly. The bad ones don't.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑19 Jan 2021, 10:55Like it or not, it's only a matter of time before Sunday working gets brought in
The question the CWU has to ask themselves is do we want to continue to be an industry leader on terms and conditions or do we join the race to the bottom.
If Sundays are built into normal duty patterns we're no better than Amazon or Hermes.

As the company will not sit back from that change as they have significant evidence to identify those collection boxes who outside of the peak period especially during COVID gets less than 50 letters post per day.
The postbox that I collect from is regularly rammed full of letters so I raised this with the Rep to query why as a delivery postie I was doing this sort of collection when it was obvious there were more than 50 letters being posted every day. Don't know what metric they were using but nothing changed. Could I have pursued things further? Sure I could, but whats the point? Its the rep and managers job to be sorting this stuff out.
I also noticed that many other duties have had additional collection boxes put on them.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Why you should support the agreement
I do wonder if the demand will be there for Sunday deliveries to ever make it economically viable. We are an LAT office and that has hardly been an amazing success. When it started it was delivered by one person on S/A. Several years later it’s still delivered by one person on the same amount of S/A. The demand for it just hasn’t grown.
