I believe that when x number of jobs get made up from part time to full time it goes in seniority order as to who gets made up to full time
Yes which is why it is a myth that the union help perpetuate that if you do x amount of hours overtime you will get a contract to reflect it

All that will happen is it will be used as evidence that a contract with more hours will need to be given out and it will then be given out to the most senior that wants it

Local agreements/local solutions to local problems in our area mean that the top 20% of the office get looked after at the expense of the rest.
Call it a type of compensation for the job not being as great as it used to be.
There are only a finite number of issues within Royal Mail delivery, it's not Rocket Science.
Seems like the union doesn't care about us on collections.Not a word about what will happen to us.
WHY ON EARTH WOULD I VOTE YES?
Collections may be one of the remaining 24 important outstanding issues that apparently still have to be negotiated but the union expect you to vote yes to before you know the outcome of said negotiations. But who knows? Certainly not the membership because the union does not see fit to issue a list of these 24 issues. This agreement should be voted down swiftly followed by Pullinger getting the boot.
Collections discussions are taking place , some offices have still to do their PBS2 revisions. Clearly the impact from having priority post boxes for COVID Test kits will have an impact going forward.
However as we know less and less people are posting into pillar boxes which has led to the collections on delivery debate. Out of 110 thousand pillar boxes , Royal Mail believe only circa 35 thousand of them will require a collection post 16:00.
In addition there is a requirement to parcel boxes.
As I said in every agreement there are different phases of discussions and different subject “ expects “ to deal with the detail. Royal Mail’s negotiating team of Williams , Dunwald , Barker , Stephenson , McAuley and Jenson rely on other managers to negotiate some of the detail on revisions specifics and productivity. This has always been the case look at the 4 pillars , Agenda for Growth , BT 2010 , pay and mod , pay and major change , Way forward all of those agreements had further talks to be concluded.
At the end of the day we have the best working conditions and pay in the industry if you don’t like the agreement go and work for the opposition

It's a ridiculous statement that the only two choices open to members are like the agreement or leave the business.
That would be the opinion of most reasonable people.
Agreed, the statement is one that Managers have used in various industries through the modern world, to drive down terms and conditions. Certainly, when it's voiced, other businesses don't seem to be in a rush to improve their employees T&Cs to match.

So why as a collections driver should I agree to the agreement?
This is my job at stake.

My hips & knees are shot through years of working for this company.i dropped my hours to go on collections so I could keep working.im too young to retire at 54.

Neil no agreement will change the fact that less and less people are posting into collection boxes.
Royal Mail would love to simply remove those pillar boxes all together. However Of Com won’t allow them to. Hence why we have seen the growth in collections moving to delivery.
No union is going to achieve that collections duties continue collecting less than 50 items in a post box which less than 15 years ago would have been full.
Most of the post boxes had been tested with an electronic counter which records how many items have been posted into it over a reference period.
The difference with this agreement is that we are committed to looking at other aspects of growth in other areas which can help to not only protect jobs but also create them.
We have had LAT , covid test kits , consumer collect all will help protect jobs in both deliveries and collections.
There will be other opportunities such as local to local opportunities to capture growth.
In addition there will be circa 35 thousand pillar boxes still remaining with a collection post 16:00 on top of POL outlets and firms.
Rejecting this agreement won’t change the pillar boxes issue or the threat to collections moving forward it will simply mean that Royal Mail try and introduce PBS3 without the protections in this agreement and the pay and shorter working week.
A company which announced a loss of 187 million in November is not to going to allow collection drivers to collect an hand full of stamp letters from pillar boxes up to 7 per day.
This is why this agreement is titled Parhway to Change as it sets out a direction on how the company can capture more growth in parcels , attempt to sustain and tackle letter decline but also attempt to create new products especially in local to local solutions.
In addition it provides job security, key protections and principles as well as a pay deal up front and one in April along with a shorter working week.
The choice you will be making if your voting no is that you don’t want an agreement to cover you when they propose to reduce the number of collections require a post 16:00 collection.
As the company will not sit back from that change as they have significant evidence to identify those collection boxes who outside of the peak period especially during COVID gets less than 50 letters post per day.
And what about CSP’s? Covid is being used to undermine the hours in these office and in my opinion job losses will take place. Where is the unions support for CSP staff? We are members of the union also and deserve protecting from what is effectively executive action. What RM have done is no different to what they tried to do with deliveries when they wanted to stop letters on a Saturday! Quite rightly the union fought back and won on that, where are they now in holding RM to account. Many CSP staff are effectively being used as reserves and are being pressured into changing their work patterns! Why are you not supporting the CSP Agreement that clearly states that CSP staff must not be removed from their posts! We want guarantees that hours in CSP’s will revert back to pre Covid times anything else will just be seen as the CWU throwing us under a bus!!!!!
