RM has been getting flustered about these A5 sized blue & white envelope letters from the NHS which are arriving in increasing numbers. They are under the impression these are letters to arrange for Covid vaccines to be administered but it seems this assumption is incorrect. They are being sorted and sent out in separate Yorks and causing a lot of unnecessary fuss & work.
I received one of these letters personally today so I opened it and showed it to our DOM. The letter from the NHS is not to do with Covid but instead is to encourage anyone who has not already had an injection for the standard flu to do so. I'm not sure if its still possible to get a standard flu injection given that it is now mid January. The standard flu injections can usually be acquired at chemist shops but access to doctors surgeries since the Covid outbreak began has been variable at best. In short the doctors surgeries don't really want people entering their buildings if they can prevent it.
So in short these NHS letters are not as important as say the Covid test kits unless we do actually start receiving letters that are for booking Covid vaccine injections.

You may or may not be correct. We were certainly led to believe that all these letters were for Covid vaccine appointments and there are a lot of them coming through - far far more than we would ordinarily see. I have noticed most of these letters I have delivered so far have been for people younger than 50 which is not currently the target age group for Covid vaccine.
It is a good strategy for the NHS to encourage more people to get the standard flu injection because it could release more bed spaces for Covid patients. I am just questioning the message put out by RM as to the contents of these letters as they are being prioritized and causing staffing & delivery issues when we are already stretched in terms of capacity to deliver.

I got an A5 NHS letter this week: with details of a hospital appointment inside.Celgar wrote: ↑13 Jan 2021, 19:15You may or may not be correct. It isn't any sort of vaccination appointment (Covid or Flu), it's a followup from surgery.
The same envelope is used for all sorts of NHS stuff, some things more important than others. This includes appointments, cancellations, reccomendations, advice on medication, and all sorts of other stuff. It is not for us to judge the importance based on one letter, and if your managers want to place a higher priority on them then, IMO, good.

I had mine. I think they make x number of doses, probably based on demand from the previous year(s) but this winter AFAIK demand was way in-excess of normal so there wasn't enough doses available
