Lets play the searching for numbers game online with you :thumbup

https://fullfact.org/online/2020-death-toll-comparison/

Now it does make you wonder what the figures would be if we lived as normal if those figures above are of us with covid rules in place. :cuppa
I would prefer a better source than a group funded by George Soros :thumbdown .

Look at the overall deaths in the UK for the past 10 years and with a few days left of this year the total deaths are unremarkable.
If the media hadn't went into overdrive no one would have noticed that there was a Pandemic.
Using the most up-to-date data we have available, the number of deaths up to 11 December 2020 was 579,491, which is 67,864 more than the five-year average. Of the deaths registered by 11 December 2020, 72,546 mentioned COVID-19 on the death certificate. This is 12.5% of all deaths in England and Wales. (Direct quote from your ONS link)

The 12.5% is significant especially when you take this years figure based on the last 5 years the 67, 864 figure is around 11% of the 579,491 total deaths. I wouldn't personally say a 12.5% increase in deaths is "unremarkable".

:cuppa yeah we both know we can both pluck out anything online to prove each other wrong. :thumbup

You can show us all the figures you want of previous years but at the end of the day we are living with covid rules in place so totally pointless. Can you show us what the data would be if we didn't have covid measures in place?

Also I repeat do you have close family and friends you want to protect? How do you know your healthy enough to beat covid? Your family and friends? How many of them will be another statistic as you feel we should just live as normal? No guilt at all if you spread and kill someone? :hmmmm

I have a close relative who was too scared to seek medical because of this hysteria, they were rushed to hospital and then after some tests it was discovered it was terminal Cancer.
More people are going to die in the long run of Cancer and Heart Disease because they have been scared witless.
Talking about Lockdowns how do explain why Peru which had the most draconian Lockdown in the World enforced by the Army has one of the worst death rates in the World whilst Sweden which had very few measures has had a far better outcome.

I wouldn't say the outcome is better now in Sweden. Also you can't compare a country like Sweden to the UK.

If we did live as normal, are you saying the hospitals would of coped better and able to accomodate all the usual appointments that were scheduled in this year?

Uh-oh! :nervous

The Jerusalem Post/Reuters (Jan. 4, 2021) ~ UK Scientists Worried South African COVID-19 Variant May Resist Vaccine
Scientists are not fully confident that COVID-19 vaccines will work on a new variant of the coronavirus found in South Africa, ITV's political editor said on Monday, citing an unidentified scientific adviser to the British government.

Both Britain and South Africa have discovered new, more infectious variants in the coronavirus in recent weeks that have driven a surge in cases. British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Monday he was now very worried about the strand found in South Africa.

"According to one of the government's scientific advisers, the reason for Matt Hancock's 'incredible worry' about the South African COVID-19 variant is that they are not as confident the vaccines will be as effective against it as they are for the UK's variant," ITV political editor Robert Peston said.
ITV (Jan. 4, 2021)
Health experts are increasingly concerned about two new, fast-spreading variants of the virus - one which was first identified in the UK and another from South Africa.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he is "very worried" about the South African variant and that the country should keep an "eagle eye" on it.
