dont you use your car to get from home to the office either then? you think rm should provide a van to do that journey as well?Jahpostie wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 16:53No kickback if your car is a write off like what happened in our depot. I am insured going to and from work in my own car. I am not insured using my own whilst working for RM. If my car is damaged I am liable. If you can afford to absorb 10k + in the event of a write off to help out good old RM then fair play. I certainly can't.

You should really do your research on insurance policies before posting nonsense.2yearpostie wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 18:11dont you use your car to get from home to the office either then? you think rm should provide a van to do that journey as well?Jahpostie wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 16:53No kickback if your car is a write off like what happened in our depot. Then again, you only care about winding people up and being contrary so why would you?

The company offer 3rd party insurance while you are driving to delivery points;-Acca Dacca wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 21:38You should really do your research on insurance policies before posting nonsense.2yearpostie wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 18:11dont you use your car to get from home to the office either then? you think rm should provide a van to do that journey as well?Jahpostie wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 16:53No kickback if your car is a write off like what happened in our depot. If you damage your car then tough s**t.
if someone damages your car you can claim off their insurance (through rm)
if you damage someone elses property they can claim from you (on rm policy)
so the only problem is if your a s**t driver and you damage your car yourself! , not that it matters to my 2k car either way. on my part time wages i cant afford the luxury of having 10k on the driveway!

What does third-party only insurance cover?
Third-party only insurance (TPO) offers you the legal minimum level of car insurance cover, and is the most basic you’re able to get.
This kind of policy helps protect other people, vehicles and property in the event of an accident that was deemed to be your fault.
For example, say you drive into the rear of someone’s car, causing damage to the bumper and injuring the driver. Your third-party insurance would cover the cost of the other person’s car and medical expenses.
What isn’t covered, though, is damage to your own car or any injuries you suffer. For that, you’d need a comprehensive insurance policy. Otherwise those costs are on you.

Sorry im confused, all I can see from your post is evidence of why you shouldnt use your own car.
Was that intended?

I'm also confused. The guy in our depot had his car smashed into while he wasn't in it. So how would he claim on the perpetrator's insurance as he was long gone.

Not so, he would have been insured parked at the depot.2yearpostie wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 16:30Same as if the event happend outside the office while he was on his walk. He wouldnt have known till he got back with the same outcome i guess.

Re: Using Private Car to Get to Start of Walk
So at the office he would have to claim on his policy because someone else hit his car and did one( if his insurance company believed him). This will put his premium up cause hes claimed on his policy, still not good is it?Jahpostie wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 16:39Not so, he would have been insured parked at the depot.2yearpostie wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 16:30Same as if the event happend outside the office while he was on his walk. Re: Using Private Car to Get to Start of Walk
I give up. You are not getting it are you. By using your own car during work time to at least get to your delivery point you are not insured for damage to your car. This is all people should need to know.2yearpostie wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 16:44So at the office he would have to claim on his policy because someone else hit his car and did one( if his insurance company believed him). Unless the person that damages your car stops and swaps details with you, then you go through the normal route.Jahpostie wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 16:59I give up. You are not getting it are you. Re: Using Private Car to Get to Start of Walk
There are postmen and women in my office who use their car everyday to carry mail out for the first loop or two, and then keep filling up their car with mail.
So stupid.
So stupid.

Re: Using Private Car to Get to Start of Walk
£7 extra it cost me for business use cover on my car , I got that back within the first week by claiming for my mileage. Before van sharing came back , me and my partner took it in turns to use our cars unless one of us wanted to use the van because we was doing overtime. If they stop van sharing again that's what we will be doing again
