At our MC we all received this email from Angard on Wednesday. (See attached). However, we were never sent an email prior to the one they sent on Wednesday.

However, we learnt yesterday that the regular group of Angardees who get the privilege to work 13hrs a day, 7 days per week, year after year, were conveniently working on Boxing Day, thus applicable for this Boxing Day Supplement that was ‘Unknown’ to the rest of us.

One of them said it was payable if they spent a shift scanning COVID packets.

There are other Angardees in the building who are actually part of the Covid Team and have to scan the packets everyday but they did not get a supplement.

Angard have never given us a Xmas Bonus. Angard rewarded new starters under 12 weeks of service during the 1st wave of the Pandemic by greatly enhancing their hourly rate which put them much closer to the hourly rate after 12 weeks of service while we all suffered on minimum wage for 12 weeks at the start of our service working for Angard. Then to top this whole debacle they reward the same group of Angardees that are always ringfenced in to work 13hrs a day, 7 days per week, despite spending most of their time actually not working but Managers seem powerless to tell them to work with a Boxing Day Bonus! Seriously what about the rest of their workforce? Where is our Bonus??

I think Boxing Day and Sunday 27th shifts haven’t been paid for staff in some sites as the book room staff don’t work bank holidays. By the time the hours are submitted on the Tuesday it’s too late for the payroll cut off.

Don't know about Angard but I think for RM the Monday was the cut-off point

Same for Angard - hours have to be submitted by the site by Monday morning. Book room staff at most sites don’t work Sundays or Bank Holidays so whenever there’s a Bank Holiday Monday the hours worked over that weekend don’t get submitted until the Tuesday, hence the payment for those hours will be a week late.

... and nobody at our Mail Centre who worked Boxing Day has received their pay for that day, let alone the bonus lump sum. Hours shows as “approved” on JoinedUp so who knows what’s happened. It always seems to be Bank Holidays when errors are made - we waited two months to be paid for Easter Sunday last year!

I received my £38 bonus for Boxing Day, however my Sunday night shift for 27/12/2020 has not paid out. Even allowing for the bank holiday delay of processing, it should be paying out on 8th January but it is not showing up on my pay statement for this week.

What was the rate of pay for your Boxing Day shift? Normal Saturday rate plus the £38 bonus?
