This is agreement is not a no change deal. There are 24 further phases of talks within this agreement which are to be negotiated from January , all of them important.

In other words we haven’t really got a clue what we are voting for? Vote yes now and have to accept blind anything that is negotiated in the next few months? It’s a no for me.

Because the union fight for better terms even if there not perfect for everyone,it puts presure on RM to not just steam roll over everything.

If it’s a no vote then the company will do what they want and the union will be finished that’s why I am voting yes with the majority you crack on with the minority

If there are additional points being negotiated as we already cast our votes. I am not surprised people are reluctant to vote for it.

Can anyone closer to CWU shed some lights on the situation?

I was leaning towards a yes vote but if things are still in negotiating phase I have doubts. How can we vote one way or another if we don't know the full picture?

Those that say it’s not about the pay would be the first to moan about no pay rise since year dot . Do me favour , it’s what we come to work for , not for the love of the job.

I'm quite happy about the pay that I get from Royal Mail.

I used to earn more money in a previous job but more money often means working unsocial hours and stress. Ask most posties from years ago what would they rather have and you will find that whilst wages are important; they are probably not as nearly important as working conditions.

I thought that the bullying culture and an end to local agreements would be addressed.

Letters are the bit that make us "the industry".......they are already the minority in terms of workload (although I accept a DO will see things very differently). Letters volumes will be minimal within five years and then we will be very much in competition with all the other carriers.

Thing is, we deliver loads of smaller parcels that other couriers don't and whilst we are still delivering these letters, its just more convenient and a whole lot easier to walk round with a bag delivering it rather than jumping in and out of the van which most couriers are still doing.

A lot of carriers don't like touching the smaller parcels for this reason

The same job that we do now - Go ask some of the older posties in your office about the good old days

The days when you weren't arguing with your boss about cutting off, the days when you knew you could be finished to pick the kids up from school instead of having to work till 3.30pm, the days when the job wasn't all about money and about providing a public service.....

Maybe, maybe not but as long as I'm trudging up and down the street for 5 hrs wearing out my knees I want to be rewarded based on that level of effort and sacrifice not based on some "competitor" who does a completely different job.

How can we vote on anything which still includes further talks . Get the talks finished then we vote .
