No. Understaffed. In a year when more people are at home ordering things.....we had less staff than last year. Go figure. Did not bring enough Xmas temps in!

So many xmas cards going to be delivered on my round on Tuesday.

Office cleared more or less, with lots of overtime paid and without any agency staff used this year.
Only gripe is the one frame with letters left in it is what I am covering next Tuesday, so thanks you lazy s*** if
you read this.
Relax and enjoy the break everyone, we have earned it.

Why is someone lazy if they want to work their hours, especially on Christmas eve? You mentioned lots of overtime paid, sounds like people have been working hard to me.

Our office hasn't fully cleared

I still keep see-ing mail in frames. There was a big push with dozens of agency workers turning up when we were leaving.

I wouldn't like to know what Royal Mail's wage bill was for November/December
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Some offices will have cleared because their MC will have failed.
Some offices will have failed because their MC will have cleared.
What is for certain is that the overall network didn't clear.

It's been a little dead in our MC over the last couple of days (even the SD locker finished early Xmas eve morning) which makes me think that there's s**tloads of stuff for our area stuck somewhere in the pipeline

Really confusing yesterday, I cleared 3 days mail and went half an hour over (I know, what a hero). Not a single letter left on the round I did although there was a york of IPS left to sort.

Some left mail AND signed out at 13.10, 12.30, one guy was home for 11.50! And that’s with him streaming, leaving loops and 6 trays still to go in his frame.

I can’t believe management didn’t stop him or at least have him throw the trays in. Oh, actually yes I can, they were all gone by 11am. Merry Christmas all :-)
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

My DO cleared except for the advertising mail.

But the SO 15 miles up the road didn't clear. So in my books that's a failure

Lolololo, hilarious reply Marshamp! Office cleared yesterday and during the daily huddle, along with congratulating us on a job well done our DOM told us that Monday (early) start times for Tuesday and to expect to be extremely busy with failed Xmas cards and packets and a tsunami of mailsort/advertising stuff that has been held back in a warehouse somewhere ready to be unleashed on us as soon as Xmas has passed. Cheers for that boss!

Very few Xmas cards through the last couple of days maybe 2 boxes max per batch for busy sequence plans but more often than not 1 box or less

Don't push the blame on parts of the system Royal Mail made it this way it will be a far worse system in 2021 if we don't fight for it now!

Usually we would clear everything but a typical Xmas Eve would be much quieter than this year. We prioritized everything except the cards, letters, & flats this year so all the packets & parcels were delivered.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.
