Saw something I've never seen before until now - an HGV bringing the mail and parcels into our DO.

I wonder now with 31m people under Tier 4 will many rush out on Monday and post the presents they can't take around to relatives now? Specials should be interesting that's for sure next week.

Sounds like it’s the same at ours. Just spoke to one of the lads who has been doing Covid kits today he said make sure you have extra Weetabix tomorrow as the floor is rammed with about a 100 York’s both parcels and mail already.

Not unusual, one of the DOs we cover has an arctic taking it's mail during xmas pressure for years (think in addition to the normal runs). AFAIK it's the only DO i the area that we cover that can handle arctics

Absolutely not.

To clear the massive backlog they brought in loads of agency staff. Agency staff only take out 40-50 parcels per 5 hour shift.

On days off walks dont get covered.

Instead of putting agency on mail and getting contracted staff to clear packets.

Manager told me the other day "postie I want you to leave all the parcels. Clear 3 loops from this frame."

Manager also says "i had three people working this frame yesterday and its still not complete."

Took me 4 1/2 hours to clear what I've been given. Hadn't gone out since Monday.

When it comes to it, if delegation was better there wouldn't be a problem.

We had a job on Friday that 6 yes that’s right 6 people were involved on. Parcel driver doing oversize, person doing the specials, person doing the tracked and another person doing the boxes. The job wasn’t going out but then then put 2 other people on it to do the mail making 6 people. They wonder why they are inefficient.
