When would we ever have worked boxing day ? Has it not always been a public holiday and you get paid for it or day in lieu if its your day off ?

Just to confirm are we now off Saturday and the Monday ?
We are off Friday, Saturday and Monday, boxing day isn't a public holiday because it is a Saturday, Monday is the public holiday
If you work night shift then you'll be off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. On the Monday going into Tuesday you'll be back in at midnight
I told you SpacePhoenix that I will not be working the Bank Holiday Monday and nor will any of the Night Shift at my mail centre.
The only staff working normally are those that would attend on a Sunday night usually , and overtime volunteers though nothing has been posted up concerning this.
ALL night shifts are required to resume on the Monday going into Tuesday. Most places will use volunteers but if not enough volunteer then they'll either have to chose some to come in or have everyone in. On the Monday night, one it gets to 00:00 on the Tuesday it's no longer a Bank Holiday
The same could be said for other bank holidays and we don't work them either.
Does your mail centre still do Sunday nights ?
Yep, we still do. Just which shift do you expect would process the mail that gets delivered on Mondays??? :cuppa

Those who work Sundays will still be in, they'll just be on Bank Holiday rate from the midnight going into Monday (think they'll have the option of money or a lieu day). ALL MCs will still have to process on the Monday night the stuff that gets delivered on the Tuesday and given the volume of mail this year, chances are that most if not all MCs will have EVERYONE IN

We haven't done a Bank Holiday Monday ever since we stopped doing Sunday nights and as I have already said we are not doing this one either , it's already been agreed. If you still have Sunday night working , that explains why you would be in , as you have already had your bank holiday off.

Unless you've had it in writing that you won't be in, I'm calling bulls**t on that statement

My day of falls on the Saturday the 26th and Monday 28th. If this is the case as stated in a number of threads on here I am really angry about it.

In recognition for all your hard work throughout the pandemic, lockdown and Christmas preasure you will receive 1 day off less of over the festive period compared to 5/6ths of your colleagues. How can that be right?
Jump on the panel on the 23rd december, take several weeks off. Fxxx em.

I can see both sides of views to this, BUT....Royal Mail have requested to OFCOM that Saturday will be a Non Service Day. This means we all spend the day with our loved ones while still receivng a full days pay for it. There would have been nothing stopping them making us all work...and still get the same money.

For those thinking they're hard done by, spare a thought for the retail stores who WILL have to work Saturday for their money, whilst we enjoy it at home.
Actually most supermarkets that are closed on the 26th, m n s for one, are making their staff make the hrs up to give them the day off, fair, not like royal mail. It's amazing how everyone loves royal mail when they're giving them an extra day off when they call them all the names under the sun the rest of the time.

Have I understood you right?

You want everyone scheduled to work on the 26th to have to pay the hours back rather than just get given the day off as a gesture of goodwill even though it would make absolutely no difference to those whose scheduled rest day is the 26th?

Yes. Everyone on Saturday off that week are 'having to pay their hrs back ' by working four days that week as opposed to the three the rest of the workforce is. So yes, I would like a bit of equality. For myself and the other 20000 posties that are getting shafted.

It's my weekend off and wasn't that bothered by it all to be honest, but seeing all your posts has got me wound up about it now! Its not right at all, should be a clawback for the people getting the Saturday as an extra day off that week

You get a day back or the money if you are off Christmas day though
