Incorrect- I am 30 hours, been made up to 38 since 23rd Nov so trusting I will get the full bonus.
Concur with what has been said above- the extra payment in January for part timers does not in my experience make you up to the full £200.
I know this because last year I was doing 70 hours for whole of December and in January I received an extra payment which put my total up to something like 175.
Full time fecking off home at 2 o clock or less every day the full 200.'
I argued the toss with my manager in this regard and told him if my hours weren't 38 this year I wouldn't be doing any o/t on principle.
Yet another part time con.
That's because the extra payment in January is a top up but is NOT based on your contracted hours in December (no disrespect
to Martin but I found his explanation of the bonus earlier in this thread a little confusing).

It is based on your average OT throughout the year - so if all your OT added up through the year/52 gets you up to 38hrs or more
then you'll get the full £100 (pre-tax etc.)

The other bonus IS based on your contracted hours in December - so full time or made up to full time for at least two
weeks in Xmas pressure - then you'll get £100 under that qualification too.

There are documents in various old threads on different boards about this going back a few years - it's a matter of
going back to the original document which explains the qualification criter

Well not a week goes by throughout the year I don't do less than 38 hours.
And I still didnt get the equivalent total bonus of 200 by January.
Nor the 3 previous years before that.
So something doesn't add up.
Yes but you can't earn OT on Public Holidays and normal leave though........
What does that have to do with the fact I regularly do 40 and 60 hours every week regardless if it's a bank holiday or not?
The simple fact is in January I never get made up to the full 200 bonus.
I'm hoping I will get the full bonus in one go as I have been made up to 38 hours from 23rd November.
This whole issue is not hard to undertsand but more difficult to fathom the unfairness of it all.

If your contractual hours are 38 hours you will/should get the full £200 bonus if your contractual hours are 25 hours a week and do 35 hours over time you will not get the £200 but only £131.57p it is why you should not do overtime most of the year. They can bank on you doing the job regardless of any other recompense and if your doing more hours than contractual hours every week something is very wrong!

Doesn't this just highlight the fact that part of the last agreements surrounding this issue are just being ignored?
I come in early to prep other walks and do bits of other walks/packets after whatever duty I happen to be doing that week.
The hours are there but nobody is made up to full time despite full time duties being vacant.
Yet nothing is done about it.
The other issue here is the full 200 bonus is not being paid to people working full time hours on a regular basis, whatever part time contract they have.
And don't get me started on holiday pay.
Royal Mail is deliberately understaffing thinking it saves them money- it doesn't because they end up paying me more in overtime than it would if people didn't cut off because their workloads are unmanageable.
Their thinking is skewed and I take advantage of that.
Do I feel bad? Why should I when on lots of other issues I know I'm getting screwed over.

Both bonuses in some way ARE based on your contractual hours - if your local management
has played fair with your Xmas contract then you WILL get one of the £100 bonuses in full.

The issues in your office are up to you and others within your office to do something about. Get your ducks in a row - how long
have the duties been vacant, have they been advertised, make a list of all the O/T you've been working if necessary
for the past 52 weeks, put all these facts together in writing and raise a grievance to the manager including your
local and area reps. You may still end up with nothing, but at least you'll have the satisfaction of having done something about it.

Believe it or not understaffing DOES save RM money. No recruitment fees, no security/background check, no uniform, no pension
contributions, no employers NIC contributions, not paying somebody to be on holiday, then they pay someone OT over 38 hrs to
do the work so no DCP pension payments, no delivery supplement over 38 hrs, no paying somebody 30 mins for 'doing nothing' if there's a WTLL,
not paying somebody to be sick. If you were doing 70 hours last December then RM have effectively saved on all these payments
for a second employee because you did that persons job. Then when it goes quieter they haven't got that employee on their books.

Somebody will ALWAYS mop up the work - it's goes eventually......

I understand and take your points.
Tbh I make the extra 8 hours up easily every week and I know I get the extra pension payment at delivery supplement up to that point.
The only things I miss out on are holiday pay- this will eventually get settled and a good chunk of back pay hopefully, plus the xmas bonus which, this year at least, I should be getting fully.
I suppose I could do the things you suggest, but in the end I might end up on a full time duty when actually I prefer to be spare as I get bored on the same duty for more than a couple of weeks.
I'm very careful about what I say and do at work- if it were up to me I would get all the part timers together and suggest we just do our hours for a couple of weeks and watch RM fold.
But I know not only could this be seen as inciting industrial action (make your own mind up whether that's the case or not), but other part timers are not in my financial position where a few weeks overtime are not necessarily needed, so wouldn't get enough support.
In the end I look after myself and my own interests and let everyone else do their thing.
Perhaps this attitude might rankle some, but I see the job as a means to an end and I'm retiring in 2 years whatever happens.
I've been with RM long enough to know nothing will ever change so look after no.1.
