The letter *hinted at* no bonuses across the board. We'll have to wait and see whether it applies to OPGs or not. But don't spend it yet.

More concerning is the paragraph about "flexible revisions" (posties being pushed to limit from pillar to post daily, no fixed times or duties).

And the one about "more efficient management structure" (one gaffer with a megaphone and sack-on-sight orders).

Their dream is to turn us into Amazon.

Yes the letter says no bonus, despite it being well known that its going to be the most profitable xmas for Royal Mail . They also conviently removed electiion profit out of figures and also well over a million pounds pay for managers and ricos pay off of course. So really it hasnt been due to mail volumes where money was supposedly lost. Anyway ,i wont be doing a min of overtime and continue to not be able to do parcels and the other round in my time. Im sure every other postie will do the same or else be a mug for doing overtime to complete an impossible workload.
No it doesn't bonus is being paid on 18th December

In summary the letter was doom, gloom, you're all lazy, you've done nothing all year (while we're sat at home), we're doomed, we've got no money, its all your fault even though workforce weren't the ones that paid Rico millions to come and go. Including a hint that may or may not mean there is no Christmas bonus was a deliberate ploy - if we get it we are supposed to feel more grateful?

Putting the customer first is NOT the one magic ingredient to being successful. Looking after everyone in the company will make them put the customer first. Ignoring the workload and taking in more and more work when the resources cannot cope with it is actually the key to failure - no point in putting the customer first and taking in 100 parcels when the workforce only has the time/pda/vans etc to deliver 80 of them. That will have the opposite effect for the customer and lose money in compensation payments and the customer going to another company next time.

Then it has the cheek to end by wishing us a good Christmas and telling us to stay safe!

No idea what the purpose of the letter was to be honest, good job there is practically no morale in the workforce as it would have killed it anyway.

I got the letter from Interim Executive Chair Keith Williams today. It was really a lot of waffle. Two pages that could've been condensed into one.

Keith would be best to attend a remedial English Composition course. :cuppa

I applaud my right honourable friend in being spot on with his comments, the so called top brass within this company are truly clueless as to how the workforce is feeling, and what goes on on a daily basis!

I received the letter today from the HR service centre posted in a first class envelope although the actual letter was dated 19th November. Therefore its contents are possibly way out of date.
Keith Williams states a letter was sent out in June to inform us that ' it was unlikely that ANY bonus would be paid this year' . I don't remember receiving or reading such a letter but it appears that currently we will not be receiving either of the £100 bonuses that we usually receive at the end of the year. These bonuses are not fantastic amounts of money but if we don't receive them it isn't going to improve morale or industrial relations in RM.
I think the main purpose of the letter is to deliver more bad news to our door and continue to downgrade our future and drive the business into an early grave. He is reporting an adjusted operating loss of £129 million in the UK but I swear the previous figure reported was way higher than that. Don't be surprised if we actually end up breaking even by the end of the tax year if not actually making a fair profit. Given that many other businesses are going bust the bosses at RM should not expect us to be generating massive profits.

I found out the truth about this one today. It was my day off on Thursday so I didn't witness the uproar when the letter arrived in our DO. Everyone downed tools and refused to sort until the situation was clarified. The letter was, as the OP suggested, destined to be sent to all managers and DOMs so it was an almighty cock-up by someone in the HR department. I imagine someone's head is going to roll over this and I wonder if an apology will be sent out or something made for RMTV. Just another example of how badly the management run RM.
