Angard vs Xmas Casuals
Anyone else have Xmas casuals take the vast majority of shifts ? Hardly anyone getting shifts at the moment , some not been in for weeks .

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
Locally AFAIK all our Angard are in every night so possibly it's a local issue

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
I’ve been booked in for the next 2 weeks alright, 5 days a week range of 2-6/6-10 and 2-10. I was a bit worried if I wouldn’t get shifts but seems like they do need them in Leeds MC. Casuals have started too like a week ago so may be just a few MCs.

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
In my office, I think it will depend on skills e.g. we don't need Angard agency workers for work listed as unskilled.
We will be using cheaper Christmas casuals :(

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
I work for Angard and I’ve had shifts cancelled this week for the first time in months. Also, since the RM Casuals started, Angard are getting sent home early and the Casuals kept until the end of the shift. Hopefully this won’t be the case as we get closer to Christmas, but who knows.
It’s been an exceptionally good year for Angard staff at our Mail Centre, with most of us getting offered 4-6 shifts every week since April, so I’m not grumbling too much. I realise that’s not the case at other centres though.

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
This is my 1st year working with Angard at Christmas so how is shifts for Angard usually during the Christmas period, does the casuals affect Angard or is it usually the same.
At our Leeds MC, we had 140 Angard staff on Monday, and each day since then there’s only been around 60 Angard staff coming since those days.
Then yesterday I got allocated shifts and only 1 day, 2-6 on Friday answer I phoned up saying I have uni in the afternoons so I can only do 6-10s and weirdly he said 6-10s have hardly been posted so it’s been weird but idk maybe they’ll send emails on the day

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
In my office, I am seeing more Angard shifts cancelled but it depends on the shift pattern.
Pay rates have been cut for Christmas casuals this year and older Christmas casuals are more likely this year to not attend due to Covid.
I'm thinking it may depend on skills e.g. some managers will ring-fence some casuals to work all through while other managers will fill gaps when CC staff don't turn up.
How Christmas casuals are organised does seem to change year on year depending on the office / mail centre manager - productivity does seem to fall off a cliff when Christmas casuals start.
Angard & Royal Mail staff have had a great year so you might need to take less shifts on the chin over Christmas. :(

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
In our office, it is the best workers or workers trained in certain areas that we are short on e.g. locker I think mostly - all the mech trained got absorbed into RM a while back

Re: Angard vs Xmas Casuals
Hope all Angard have had shifts. Its hard to tell who are Christmas Casuals and who are and which agency people are from. Strangely but probably due to the situation new Angard started this Thursday. Whats the take at your depot?
All have a good a Christmas as possible but stay safe.

10-20 Christmas casuals are working next week in my place per shift. The majority will be Angard.
All the other Christmas casuals have finished

Make sure you record the hours you've worked as two agencies involved :)
