Anyone remember the gold envelopes from Tesco that wouldn't hold the stamp on? I rked in the callers then and people were being surcharged for fun and was that an interesting time - in some instances you could see where the stamp had been stuck.
our day was the typical manager f**k up..yesterday we were told that there would only be 2 nightshift workers on over xmas..
which defeats the whole object of asking who wanted to do nights over the xmas period..so those that were going to do nights were pulled off and put back on days..
so you can guess what happens next..to much work,,not enough time...now the managers are panicking..so then the managers asks everybody who wants to come back and sort after our duties, also who wants to do nights for the next few days..
this place is run by cretans..it doesnt take anybody with 1 ounce of sense to know if you take away the nightshift over xmas, then you will get a backlog straight away..
also the fact that the manager was calling us onto the ips frame to do more sorting even before and after we all did our ips stint..
Well, apparently, it was freezing cold yesterday (which I can believe) according to one customer. My nose was running like a tap but I couldn't feel the cold, as I was walking at the usual pace, wrapped in about six layers and wearing a warm hat. Not much mail, so managed to get the last of the D2D's done. One "customer" wanted me to hand her mail on the street (I refused). She looked absolutely horrified and upset (as they usually do). I asked "her" to clean her steps from the slimy stuff I had just nearly broken my neck on. Later, towards the end of the walk, a customer asked why I was "late", because he had been waiting for (I believe) his giro. Explained that there's no set time in the day for mail to arrive and that the earliest I usually start on the walk is ten o'clock in the morning. Finished at usual time and walked home, cross-town. Smelt sweaty. Made some food, flaked out, did prayers intermittently and retired around 8pm.

What right does these people have to raise voices to us, or talk to us like shite, any other service and they would have been told to shut up and behave otherwise they won't recieve the service thats being provided. Did have the best tip, and it was a can of tizer hmmmmmmmmmmmm now if only it was beer hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
There seems to be something strange going on in the minds of many of our customers: many somehow think that they alone - as a single customer - are the only ones to whom we post letters &c. and that we only carry one bag's-worth of mail around with us. While this is, of course, very intriguing, the truth is, firstly we DO NOT belong to anyone and secondly our 'magic' bag gets refilled often during the course of a walk, so Why make the simple matter of posting a bunch of letters &c. any more complicated and involved than it needs to be?

Not had a day like this in a long time. Adam and Allan came down to our delivery office and made breakfast for all the boys and girls before they went on delivery. They then had a raffle and the two names pulled out of the hat went home on full pay whilst our illustrious leaders took out their delivery. Whilst we enjoyed our bacon and eggs, beans and mushrooms - who should appear but Billy and Dave dressed as Santa and his Elf helper - together they gave a rendition of silent night, with the two A's. Then the four of them said the pay negotiations and agreement had been a wind up and that we were really getting a 5% pay rise back dated to April 1st with no strings and a bigger rise next April.

Time to wake up now dvbuk, your'll be late
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
