One bag out

Post by chromium05 »

Yep - 1 bag!

With the christmas pressure our dom decided to put starts back to 5:15 am - straight on sorting until 8:15 at the latest ( with no more sorting regardless of what is left, comes in etc). So, I get stuck on a round that is one of the longest heaviest walks and I have only done a few times before.

ishtloads of mail to prep and I'm ready at 11:30. Erm...there's only 1 key for a pouch box....

The manager walks over and says I have plenty of time to get it delivered. "Yes", I say " except that I'm one of the ones who aren't doing ANY SA / OT for the pressure period"

Face like thunder and tells me to bag up what I can do in an hour and a bit. So I do and it's 3 bags.

I put the 2 bags to go out on the trolley and the manager says if the driver isn't back in 15 minutes, he'll drop them at my box.

Fine

I go out and deliver the 1st bag. Get to the box - no bags. Wait for an hour. No bags and my time is up. I start walking back to my bike and the manager pulls up and asks which bag I want first.

I tell him neither as my time is up and I'm on my way back.

Face like thunder and he screeches off in his car.

Get back to the office and he tells me that I am now to come in at 6:15 am as before.

Fine by me, I say, hour less on sorting and I'll still have the same amount of mail to prep and the same amount of time to deliver in and I'll not be going a minute over whether there's 6 houses or 6 bags left.

Then I realised that stood behind me is the area manager that I have my stage 3 with on wednesday looking at me like I'm scum.

Ha ha...sack me you cnut.

Ufcking managers are the most useless bunch of arses I've had the mispleasure to "work" with. Pie eating pasty bellied idckheads.

Just wanted to vent my frustration..... :cry

They can not make you work a minute before or a minute after your hours, I still would be careful tho and find out where you stand and what are your rights regrading the hours. I would write down, the time i start, the time I am on IPS, the time I start throwing my round off, the time i go on break and off break, the time i finish throwing round off, tying up and getting out the door, The travelling time, and then how many bags you have done to your time. It is not our fault if its badly organise is it? Are you on 6hour contract? And also to stop you getting RSI you should leave your frame at least once a hour for a few mins or so. I think that under health and safety guidelines.

Sigh the things one learn when one had time because of Romec redundancy *L*

All the best for Wednesday
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
