Wouldn't you need to prove that that person was showing signs of having the virus (the imminent danger)Woody Guthrie wrote:Strange and completely unworkable.19times wrote:Reading some comments on here, so anyone can say they are exempt and you don't need to show proofbit strange that one!
Since the mask protects others would I be able to walk out if someone wasn't wearing a mask citing Section 44 Employment Rights Act 1996?
(d) in circumstances of danger which the employee reasonably believed to be serious and imminent and which he could not reasonably have been expected to avert, he left (or proposed to leave) or (while the danger persisted) refused to return to his place of work or any dangerous part of his place of work, or
(e) in circumstances of danger which the employee reasonably believed to be serious and imminent, he took (or proposed to take) appropriate steps to protect himself or other persons from the danger.

So , when did social distancing cease to be enough ? Why wasn't face covering in indoor work places in Royal Mail necessary back in March ?
Answer Christmas is coming , and so we can flood your mail centre with seasonal casuals you now have to wear a face covering.
On another point , if you want a visor , and none are available , do you need to wear a face covering ?
And also if Royal Mail really cared about the welfare of their staff , have any offices sent home those Clinically Vulnerable Employees ?

We all have our view on how the business is dealing or not with this situation. But at the end of the day we are all responsible for our own lives. Do what you can to protect yourself, colleagues and your loved ones. I can comment on a lot of failings the business has done since March but what good is it now? I know what I need to do so don't need repeating from the overpaid working from home idiots pretending they care, but we all know its all about the money.

We have been told a visor on its own is not acceptable. A mask must be worn even if you have a visor.tractorboy2 wrote:So , when did social distancing cease to be enough ? Why wasn't face covering in indoor work places in Royal Mail necessary back in March ?

Given that a high percentage of those testing positive show no symptoms, if you were allowed to walk out on the ‘imminent danger’ basis, Royal Mail would need to test every employee, every day, and only allow access to RM premises to those showing a negative result. Otherwise, no employee can be certain any of their colleagues is not infected!tractorboy2 wrote:Wouldn't you need to prove that that person was showing signs of having the virus (the imminent danger)Woody Guthrie wrote:Strange and completely unworkable.19times wrote:Reading some comments on here, so anyone can say they are exempt and you don't need to show proofbit strange that one!

One of my colleagues asked me a question I couldn’t give an answer to.
‘Instead of making facemasks compulsory, why don’t they just use those temperature-reading guns, and send anyone home who has a high temperature?’
(This preventative measure might also prevent people passing on other conditions like flu)

temperature guns are unreliable. they only measure the surface temp of the skin and that can be different for different reasons. they dont measure internal temperatures.

If you sent people home with pay they would be wearing 6 hats on the way to work.
If you sent people home without pay they would be wearing a bag of frozen peas.

Ever?
Including the smokers? They sound like a TB ward outing at our place.
Is the radio on too loud?
Maybe everyone is healthy in your office so no one has the attendant covid cough?
Being asymptomatic isn't a conspiracy.
Very interested in who these truth telling nut jobs labelled as conspiracy theorists are.
David Icke?
Alex Jones?

Not just mail centres, delivery offices too. The next 2 months will be crazy busy. We’ll soon be in the period where no taking of annual leave is allowed and, in our office, part timers can volunteer to come in earlier. For 3 or 4 weeks the office will be more crowded with bodies than at any other time of the year. The cynic in me thinks it’s obvious Royal Mail are introducing this now just to be able to reduce the 2 metres social distancing down to 1 metre.tractorboy2 wrote:So , when did social distancing cease to be enough ? Of course not, but it's pretty hard to eat or drink whilst wearing a face covering!Chelseablue wrote:So you dont have to wear one for your break and food , does the virus care that your on youre break and eating? Still no proper distancing , still some ppl not washing hands , its okay as longs the mail goes out tho .
This whole, "is the virus smart enough" "does the virus care" patter is utter nonsense. Measures are taken to reduce risk and spread, not to eliminate it altogether which is a virtual impossibility.
