We were told walk sequincing machines would take months to install and then months to set up with the correct info in regards to the walks.

To me, the walk sequincing machines should have been installed, up and running, then balloted on flexability etc because nothing can happen until the mail speeds up.

Common sense
Trust Royal Mail? God help us all.....

these machines are going to take a few years to get into place as i bet they have only just put in an order and they can't afford to get as many as they wanted anyway (budjet) and no doubt they will be obsolete by then anyway

As long we finished before 1.30pm on Saturdays I have no objection. As football is important for me.

I do think it is daft idea as we wouldn't be able to meet people in the afternoon as there will be less windows of opportunity to meet people before they finished work.

Also it will be very difficult to do overtime for half walk as there will be less time to do them.

i want started early and finished early, and the earlier the better, its what i joined the bloody job for near 20 years ago.
Next , youll all be congratulating the business for a mon-fri, 9-5 routine- fools.[/quote]

Great point, think we're looking at 9-5 eventually pretty soon they'l be no such thing as te morning post. I sometimes find myself delivering to schools at 2.30 or later, and getting grief. Thank you Europe.

If that comes in I am off. I came out of a 9-5 office job because the hours at RM suited me. If we go 9-5 I am going to quit and go back to working in a nice warm/air conditioned office with a toilet 30 feet away and a canteen/kitchen that's clean.

Me too, TBT. I like the afternoons to get things done, walk the dog, shop, do the garden etc. They take that away I might as well get another job that comes without all the sh1t RM throw at us.

We're have had 2 of these sequencing machines since August 2006 for trials.

The latest word is that they are both going to scrapped soon and replace with 3 shiney new ones.

Obselete after less than 18 months.

I just don't get it !!!!

i cannot understand some of the neanderthal comments I am reading, who wants to start work in the middle of the night. Get real we need to have a normal life where we can have a lie in until at least 07.00. Have you people no social life do you ever have a night out. I would move to 09.00 to 17.0 tomorrow. :evil/mad :evil/mad

i like most people on here took this job because of the early mornings and early finishing. this gave me more time with my lad. if i wanted a regular job i would have stayed in the factory i left but i didnt want a johnny clockcard 7til 5 job. i wanted the early mornings. and as for a social life my weekends were always mine for playing football and goin out on the razz. but it seems like the new starters and the guys who rush around in there own cars with heavy bags and brown tongues are the ones killing this company .
bring back the 4.30 am starts and give the public the service that they deseverd and praised us for instead of constant nagging at 2pm deliveries and beyond. :arrrghhh :evil/mad
