Covid symptoms

Can anybody help with a quick question?
A young lad at our delivery office has come into work this morning saying that he's got some Covid symptoms and did a home test yesterday and is waiting for the results.
He says that because we're key workers he should still be coming into work until he gets the test results, the Dom has said the same thing.
I thought that everybody should isolate if showing symptoms, is this right?
Can anybody direct me to any written Royal Mail guidance on this?

Your colleague and DOM are arseholes. They are putting you all at risk.

What to do if you have symptoms

If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:

Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
You and anyone you live with should stay at home and not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.

Anyone in your support bubble should also stay at home if you have been in close contact with them since your symptoms started or during the 48 hours before they started.

I thought that was the case but they are both adamant that because we are key workers, he can come to work until the result comes back. Unfortunately we have no Union Rep at the moment.

The people who he works with are also key workers.
There won't be any key workers left if he gives them all Covid 19.
Some of those key workers might be taking the virus back to vulnerable people.
How f***ing stupid are some people.

Coming to work when you have symptoms should be a sackable offence.
Allowing someone to come to work with symptoms should be a sackable offence.

We have a woman postie who’s bin man husband was tested positive for covid & she was told by line manager to have a test to see if she had it before self isolating?

Any wonder the virus is spreading with these clueless so-called managers.even if she hasnt got virus she still has to go into quarantine.

We had similar.Some dipshit rocks up sweating buckets with a high temperature.Was told told to F off home by the rest of us and a manager.

The isolation rules are laid down by the government not what royal mail or anyone else decides. If someone has symptoms they are required to isolate for 10 days from when those started and get tested. They can only stop isolating if the results are negative or 10 days passes which ever is soonest and not leave the house until those results come through. This applies to everyone, key workers are not exempt!!!

If someone tests positive they continue to isolate for the full 10 days from when their symptoms started, other household members or close contacts ioslate for 14 days and are NOT eligible for a test unless they go on to develop symptoms themselves. Even if they lie to get a test and it is negative they gain nothing as the law states they still have to isolate for the full 14 days to allow for incubation. This means not leaving the house including going to work, shops, visiting friends etc.

If you have Covid 19 symptoms you should self isolate for 10 days even if your the Priminister of the UK it is that simple you should phone for a test and anyone in your household should self isolate for 14 days.

Correct. Doctors and nurses are key workers to a far greater degree. Imagine a nurse turning up to do a shift in a nursing home showing symptoms!

By the way, the guide line of the government has been fixed for 14 days isolate, and there is also a 10-day isolation somewhere.
