Royal Mail Mask and Contact Guidance for Managers :Scotland
All
Please ensure you are now aware of the new government guidance in Scotland for the wearing of face coverings in the workplace that was released on Friday;
· The wearing of face coverings in workplace canteens, when individuals are not seated at a table, such as when queuing, entering or leaving the canteen (in line with other hospitality venues) will be mandatory from Friday 16 October.
· The wearing of face coverings in other indoor communal workplaces, such as corridors and social spaces, will be mandatory from Monday 19 October.
Due to the design and layout of our units the point highlights the MANDATORY use of face coverings at all times. Please ensure you brief all employees that it is mandatory to now wear a face mask when in the unit such as; moving around the unit main floor(including entering and leaving the building), stairwells, corridors, at RM2000/IPS frames, bullrings, etc and also in welfare areas (except when seated).
Please ensure you are checking stocks of masks daily and recording on the app accurately.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When briefing the staff on the above please ensure they are aware of the definition of Close contact if contacted by Trace & Protect, NHS 111, Enforcement agencies, other RM employees, etc. We have had some questions relating to the definition of close contact and employees not understanding this when asked.
When an individual has COVID-19, they are at risk of passing it on to others. It is understood that people may pass on COVID-19 in the two days before they start to develop symptoms, and for up to ten days after the symptoms start. Where there are no symptoms contact tracing uses the date of the test instead, i.e. contacts two days before the date of test until ten days after.
A contact is someone who fulfils the contact tracing definition. In non-household settings (including most workplaces) this is someone for whom any one of the following have occurred during the case’s infectious period (AS ABOVE):
Had face to face contact with a case within 1 metre for any length of time. This includes:
being coughed on
having a face-to-face conversation
having skin-to-skin physical contact
Been within 1 metre of a case for one minute or longer, even if this is without face-to-face contact
Been within 2 metres of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) for more than 15 minutes cumulatively.
Travelled in a small vehicle with a case (regardless of where they sat) or in a large vehicle near a case.
--------------------------------------------
The Scottish Government guidance on Car sharing is clear that this should only take place with those from the same household, or extended household. We have had a number of cases where individuals who have tested positive have been car sharing to work and this has an impact on others in the workplace, potentially putting them at risk. Please ensure employees are made aware of the government guidance on Car Sharing and the potential risks.
Car sharing and giving lifts
You should only car share with members of your own, or extended, household, and follow the safe travel guidance at the Transport Scotland website when there is no alternative.
Regards

Looks fake to me
How can they have;
''The Scottish Government guidance on Car sharing is clear that this should only take place with those from the same household, or extended household. While still allowing van sharing?
Also using the term 'giving lifts' seems out of place

The names are blanked out to protect the source.Faultywire wrote:Seen this already why blank name out.....is this real??
It's an internal RM document and as such confidential.

The paragraph you quote clearly prohibits van sharing.Acca Dacca wrote:Looks fake to me

It overrides any crazy ideas RM management might have about sharing vehicles.

I really dont see how management could tell people not to car share into work while pressuring people who dont want to van share at work
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

They're not.I really dont see how management could tell people not to car share into work while pressuring people who dont want to van share at work
They're just repeating word for word the current Scottish government guidelines, hence the language.
Royal Mail can't tell you how to get to work but they can blame you for not following guidelines.

The UK and Scottish government guidance on sharing vehicles at work remains the same as it always has.Acca Dacca wrote:Then, like I said, how can they let you van share?Woody Guthrie wrote:They're not.I really dont see how management could tell people not to car share into work while pressuring people who dont want to van share at work

It should be avoided where possible..
It obviously originated from management.

I never asked where you think it originated from either but where you got it from - unless you got it direct from a manager.
I think its fake.

In Scotland The wearing of face coverings in a workplace canteen, when not seated at a table, such as when queuing, entering or leaving the canteen (in line with other hospitality venues) will be mandatory from Friday 16th October.
The wearing of face coverings in other indoor communal workplaces, such as corridors and social spaces will be required from 19th October.
There is no updated guidance for colleagues in Wales so those working in a Customer Service Point must continue to wear a face covering/mask at all times. In Wales, staff working behind plastic screens which give sufficient protection would generally not be considered to be in public areas – the purpose of the screen being to separate them from the public.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That's three times you've said it's fake.
It simply reiterates the Scottish government guidelines on mask wearing and car sharing.
If I could be arsed to make something up it would be far more interesting.
"Fake" seems to be the new go to place for anything you don't believe these days.
If you don't believe it just move on.
