single man opening delivery office at night

Hi all I'm a distribution driver at a mail centre and at present we go to do's in 2 vans at night however management are now pushing to move to single man opening is this the norm?

AFAIK all the runs from the MC where I work are single crewed. No idea if a member of DO staff is on hand at the other end

Single crewed doesn't seem safe or secure when there is no staff in the DO.
Being late at night what if something happened to you or you're jumped by opportunist thieves, there's no one around to help you, the staff may be coming in the morning to a crime scene.

We go to all the DOs on our own, open up ,unload and lock them again . 90% of the offices we go to are not staffed until the morning .

At my MC we mainly do it double manned but we have a hub where they've always singlemanned. I have heard it's being looked at regionally because they would like to go to single manned allover. But the duddy runs can work especially and be economic if you goto 2 offices rather then 1 office. It is also alot quicker if you have 2 people together.
