Van sharing from Monday

Post by GRS »

But the know alls on here told us that van share wouldn’t be back until next year at the earliest!! In fact some even told us on more than one occasion that we would never see van share again.

Just shows that those on here that love to put others down for airing a view different to them actually know F all. Maybe now they’ll stop the superior attitude of “I know best and I will constantly mock you for not believing me”.

We need to ignore the bald-faced lies, stick close together and stay positive.

Umm... oops. :nervous

Last time I checked, there's a whole ~60cm between driver and passenger heads while sitting in a van.

I still can't quite believe this announcement after reading it a few hours ago... The UK is increasingly going under local lockdown, there's talk of a ~2 week "circuit break" lockdown starting around half term holidays and Royal Mail wants OPG volunteers to ignore the 1 metre plus advice and share vans again.

I find it staggering that this is the higher management plan after at least several months of a winter second wave being highly probable.

Next they will be asking/telling us not to install the NHS Covid app, ignore it's isolation advice and full sickness pay for Covid reasons will cease.

Just shows how desperate Royal Mail are. The parcels are building up and Xmas round the corner with not enough vans to deliver them in.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

This is a f***in outrage.

Right in the middle of the second wave, on the same day there have been more cases than ever, Royal Mail announce this.

When your manager asks, every postie should say a very firm NO.

Its not being enforced and is voluntary so its not technically back yet
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

cpsteve wrote:Common sense we as adults can decide if we are happy to sit next to a workmate if we are not then we dont have to.
But you don't know how many people your workmate has been mixing with.

And then one of you catches it and give it to someone else without knowing.

Before you know it, your mate's cousin's nan is dead.

This is how Covid works. It's not about you. It's about everyone reducing their risks as much as possible to protect other people.

Van sharing hugely increases risks, and should be forcefully opposed.

Some parts of the North West (Mcr, Liverpool etc..) & North East have six times higher rate of positive Covid cases than places in the South. So will local variations come into play when your asked to van share? If your in a local lockdown area then they (RM) shouldn't really be putting you in that difficult position.

What rights do i have? Will the cwu support me if i refuse to change my shift after 15 years of doing earlies ?
