Unsuccessful Application

Post by Lindsey84 »

Hi, I applied for a postie job completed the online tests & went for a face to face interview. I received an email to say I was unsuccessful but I passed the interview therefore I've been but on the waiting list. Since then I've applied for 2 postie jobs at my local offices 1 of which I originally applied for. Both state they are "Testing." Can anyone help as to what this means please?

Hi Lindsey84, congratulations on passing your interview.
"Testing" is the status used for those on the waiting list who are not required to do the online test I believe. It remains on testing until a decision is made on whether or not you have been successful.

Unsuccessful Application

Post by Bugsy »

O.k after much encouragement and willing from my own postman i applied for 2 more vacancies at the end of April. Both of them have a current status of 'testing complete' and so i emailed the Royal Mail on the email address i have used previously myapplication@royalmail.com but have not received a reply this time and it has now been 4 weeks. I really dont know what to do at this stage. I didnt even bother applying for the 3 other vacancies which came up recently in my area because i felt that i would just do the test for the umpteenth time and it would just sit there on 'testing complete' like the 2 current one's i have. I feel that this is so poor and disappointing but right now i am at a loss as to what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?

Lfc1972 wrote:I would apply, I had countless applications to my local delivery offices, I’ve had 2 unsuccessful interviews then had to wait 6 months to try again. Had the 3rd interview, got put on waiting list and got a job through that. Whole process from first application to starting was 2 and a half years. I was determined to be successful and I got there in the end. Age is no barrier so don’t let that put you off, I was 45 and two newer recruits at our DO are older. I know it’s gutting and not the best recruitment process but keep at it. Just coming up to a year in the job and it’s the best job I’ve had. Keep the faith :Very Happy
I have failed on the online assessment. Devastated. I just relocated and have worked out doors for 11 years. I love walking and just thought I would be a perfect fit.

The process of flawed for sure. Surely it would be better to view the candidates for the merits of experience, etc. Can you give any advice? I don’t want to lose hope but not getting to the interview is a huge kick in the teeth.

Maybe its a blessing in diguise, RM isnt the job it was even 5 years ago and even at that point it was a slog compared to 5-10 years before that.
The walking part may sound like great exercise, but also it means you are exhausted by the end of the week, its not like youre going to the gym and have the option to skip a day when youre feeling the toll.
Dont get me wrong it also isnt the worst job in the world, however is it something id be fighting to get into right now and feel heartfelt loss if for whatever reason i didnt make it in ? probably not.
