They way things are going, I think I'll end up writing off this year in terms of doing any xmas work for RM.

Bank Details for Christmas Casuals
I have noticed that on my application, there is a section headed "Job-specific Information" where I am being asked for my bank details. In previous years, you'd take them along in person when you attended the open day. No way am I going to upload my account number and sort code across a non secure connection to a server based who knows where.
They way things are going, I think I'll end up writing off this year in terms of doing any xmas work for RM.

With the current restrictions you may find that the usual ‘Open Day’ arrangements may be suspended.
Everything that can be done online is being done that way
I agree that taking the details along to the Induction Meeting woukd be better but, at mY MC, groups of 10 are being sat in the Meeting Room, socially distanced, shown the videos, given the talk and badges and then led onto the work floor for a tour and then start work immediately.
Leaving the provision of banking details until then might be too late to have you paid on time.
It appears that the provision of Christmas Casuals is being handled by Angard this year, instead of, nominally, by Royal Mail.
It’s your choice whether or not to follow their procedures. 97,000 others needed over this period will.
It is what it is.

You have Christmas Casuals starting at your mail centre already? My starting date isn't until the end of November. If time is the issue, I rather send them my bank details by registered mail than upload them via an unsecure connection.
Do you mean Angard are providing Christmas workers they have recruited and signed up themselves via their usual recruitment process or that Angard have been give access to RM's job site?
That remains to be seen. From what I'm hearing, a lot of people aren't happy with the shifts they have been allocated. I'm more than happy to follow procedures but not if it puts the security of my bank account in jeopardy. If Angard are the ones processing my personal data they can forget it. I wouldn't trust them to run a bath.

I believe that in past years we've had both Angard staff and Xmas casuals (AFAIK recruited direct by RM)

The old style registration event has finally been replaced by a more 21st century version! Personally I was more concerned in the past about the security of all those photo copies of our documents! Hopefully they were safely destroyed! I don't start until November 23rd & certainly not with Angard! Where I am, it's night shift or nothing! My gripe this year is that our rate of pay has gone down! I am also concerned about social distancing as it's not a very large building.
