looks like a non excistint night shift..

Post by meweavy »

i cant believe what is happening..not only do they refuse to have a nightshift last week.when they definately shouldve had one..
now they are asking everybody who was going to do nights from tomorrow night,,they are getting them to come in on days instead,,because they cant get the walks covered..

how the hell do they expect to get the work done before xmas.when there isint a night shift...

this is what happens when the business tries to save as much money as they can..talk about tight..
in our office if we only have a couple of nightshift workers in starting from tomorrow..no way is it going to get done in time..

once again rm will f**k everything up due to saving a bit of money..it is utter madness it really is..

They're now so caught up in this culture of cut, cut, and cut again, all semblence of common sense has long since gone out the proverbial window.

What a way to run a business, especially at this, it's busiest time of year, eh?

This is, to me anyway, what makes xmas07 so surreal, that the lowest paid people in Royal Fail care more about the effect of management's barmy plans, than knobheads like Leighton & Crozier, or their little army of fawning lickspittles. :cool

All we can do is, make the best of a bad job.

What would we do without "captains of industry" like Leighton & Crozier, eh? ............ Oh, I know, a damn site feckin' better, if you'll pardon my anglo-saxon. :Very Happy

Posties do care more about getting things done properly.

If you have a well-developed sense of responsibility for a public service, and will get on with a job to the best of your ability, are you going to be attracted to a job as manager in RM with the current company policies? Of course you're not!

But if you're looking for a good income, and aren't worried about public service as long as you're ok.... you can let the posties take the strain, so it looks like targets are nearly being met.... and you can tell other managers that if those posties had tried a bit harder and weren't working to rule, you'd have met those targets.... so you get your bonus anyway.....

No doubt there are still some genuine RM-as-a-public-service managers so if you're one and you're reading this please don't be offended - but you didn't join recently, did you? Or if you did, you're looking for a way out....

RM sent out blue cards to every postie about how to deal with stress. They are sharing the secrets of their management training with us. They follow the advice given on the card - "take jobs in order of importance rather than trying to do everything at once". So it's obviously much more important to collect mail than to get it delivered, since RM get paid when items are posted. Then delivery priorities can be calculated in terms of compensation payable for delay, and so on. If there are too many packets or Christmas cards, then why not follow the established Aberdeen principle and put them aside for a little while. We should never have "too much importance placed on the factors which cause stress".

If we posties stopped caring about getting the mail delivered on time, the management system wouldn't work. We notice when things aren't right and we do our best to get things sorted. We want everyone to get their Christmas post. All of it. On time. But in some places I think we've reached the limit of what's possible.

you forgetting the bonus managers will get from the savings, that,s their reward for ruining the business ie making it cheap enough for a sell off.

surelt though with xmas coming, thier main objective would be to get all the xmas packets and mail out of the door before xmas eve..

if they do away with the night shift, how do they expect to get the work done..
and if they fail to get the work done, wouldnt the public, press and more importantly the regulator come down on royal mail like a ton of bricks..we would lose all the online business we get to other companies, losing rm yet more money, and for what just because they are to tight to save a bit of money on nights..

this place is run by kamikazi generals who seems to think that they can squeeze the impossible out of an already understaffed and overworked skeleton workforce..

typical RM one idea , no plan B DOH! , so into a panic mode once again , it's the emperor's new clothes with :lfo

it is a scorched earth policy , maybe the "magic pancea" for all RM's ills is supposed to be privatisation and the "amazing" "improvement" that didn't happen with the utilities & railways .

that cards thing is nonsense , all about ticking boxes for the HSE .
politics -showbiz for the ugly , powermad & inadequate
