LTB 459/20 – JOINT STATEMENT – PAY AND SHORTER WORKING WEEK

Post by Yamr1 »

Basically at the meeting, they don't have money for a pay rise or for giving us the hours were owed , basically it going down the route of we need to make savings and agree with what they want to force in

No chance RMG can poke it

The mail has to be delivered come what may, people require and want this service.

The government has already re-nationalised rail in all but name so there is no reason for the mail not to receive similar treatment in order to sustain it.

The Union is in a good spot but seem unable to evaluate their position correctly.

As key workers who toiled throughout the pandemic, and continue to do so, we should be getting a percentage pay raise on par with what teachers have been awarded who have been relaxing at home for six months as a bare minimum.

Absolute joke management seem to want blood out of a stone in deliveries, workload is too much as it is and they think we have time to do more? Either costing them in OT or more cut offs to deal with... And we’re just about to go into our busiest xmas ever. Union need to act fast.

Automated Hours Data Capture (AHDC) was described by the Royal Mail Group AGM 2020 Trading Statement as:

‘dispensing with old, outdated ways of working such as handwritten sign in sheets, moving to automated clock-in, clock-out systems as used by other businesses for decades’

Statements like that give the impression that we have not embraced new technology, that we are a prehistoric organization stuck in the past. We take exception to that. We already have a number of our sites that use such systems, our letter operation is fully automated, our parcel and delivery people are armed with new technology which enables doorstep transactions and timed deliveries. Our CWU position is clear – new technology provides the opportunity for new products and services and diversification and growth but we will not agree to its use to de–humanize the workplace, bring continuous pressure on individuals or remove the role of the Union in protecting people in the workplace. To be clear the latest draft on management’s desired usage of AHDC is far from the simplistic statement made by the RMG board in respect of clocking in and out. Verbally in the talks management had agreed with the CWU negotiators that new technology would not be used to;

Track people, stop pay, for disciplinary purposes or to remove the Union’s role in the workplace regarding manpower planning, work organization etc.

However, management’s latest draft proposal does indeed track people around the workplace and builds up individual data on all individual employees in all workplaces, a far cry from the simple clock-in and out description that the board chose to use to ridicule our current operations.
Bullshite. :mad

The sooner Royal Mail brings in automated signing in/out the better. (Is there a poll on this here on RM Chat? :nervous )
Two Bundle D2D “warm call” Trial

while throwing in or prepping up all D2D items into the preparation frame
You won't find me throwing in D2Ds in my frame. Why? Because I hate doing that! I prefer to carry my D2Ds as a separate bundle. (Is there a poll on this here on RM Chat? :nervous )
Negotiations continue.
Sort yourselves out, CWU & RM. :no no

Yeah
After a year of "intense" negotiations. RM put forward offer, Union say we are open to some of it, but what about previous agreement. And that's it. Am I missing something. Sounds like complete farce.

Actually in a worse position because we no longer have the threat of a live ballot.

Been told by a lino this morning that base 6 frames will be in shortly in our office and the packet bag drop frames being replaced by/with a smaller type hooded york..packets/parcels for the base 6 frames will be thrown into these yorks then wheeled round to them.. Also it seems with the extra space created that at least 2-3 smaller outlying offices will be moved in..All apparently with the unions agreement ! WTF is going on ?

Okay, I realise there is a lot to get through and am a fairly patient person, but ffs.

We have worked right through this pandemic. At the very least we where due a pay rise in April. It is close to October now and us key workers haven't had so much as a pay rise. Is this how much we are really valued and and is this the best our union can do to negotiate one. It's pathetic.

After reading that its clear nothing has changed and rm are still pushing ahead with their pre covid rico black agenda. A 35 hour week looks like a no go especially if they are now adding parcel collections to deliveries and also the additional post-box collections they are wanting to hive off of collections. And that wonderful idea of a two bundle system has obviously come about by somehow coming to the conclusion using pie charts, flow charts and runes to show you are all hanging around waiting for the second wave of mail to turn up in the office so you can better utilise that time by bundling up whilst you wait for the 2nd wave and just add it in when out of delivery. That'll save (in their minds) oodles of indoor time so you'll have more time out on delivery to do more, complete and not book any overtime.

Collections are going to get a hammering and thinned right down. Time will tell if they go after Parcelforce in the near future and deliveries are just going to get longer and longer by doing everything from delivering mail, to collections along with some care in the community work all within a 6 hour delivery. Probably won't see a pay rise this side of Christmas.

And its all your own faults because you wouldn't let them modernise the clocking in system

I must admit I'm getting to feel about as interested in this on-going saga as I am about the continuing Covid Cock Up! FFS just give us a payrise and start building some of that Trust again! :cuppa

What do you mean by time will tell if they go after Parcelforce?
