How does someone elses finishing time affect your life? Genuine question.
It doesn’t, all it comes down to is jealousy that others are better and quicker at their job. Queue up all the “being quick doesn’t mean they’re better blah blah blah” and “those who are quick make mistakes blah blah blah”

Some guy got caught in our office scanning tracked as delivered before he left the office the address was miles away so beware they can see where you scan the item.

Yeah i know that from personal experience. Customer somehow how got hold of the coordinates and they showed that i delivered their item '25 metres from their address'.

In reality I saw them entering their property and scanned the item as delivered as i began to walk down their very long driveway.

But it does eventually affect your life.
Not today, but when they take a walk out office, or only replace F-timer with 25 hr P-timer. Or add new-build to walk.
Why......because 5/6 posties are finishing 1hr early every day even with lapsing.
The walks are getting bigger every year and we've only got ourselves to blame. Union are absolutely useless at stopping Job and Finish. RM might actually do us a favour for once.

That's simply not true.
The walks are getting bigger primarily because the indoor work is shrinking.
You cant take hours out of an office based on individual staff members finishing early. It has to be based on factual traffic levels and planning/resource levels.

You can't just say 5 guys are finishing an hour early so we can take 5 hours out or the office will be under resourced on the daily resource planner. You do need a decent rep to hold them to account though because managers are managers etc.

Would one hour a day reduction equate to a reduction of the indoor work load ie mitigate the size of the out door work load?

Only ever met one rep who actually checks daily resource/traffic. That was at a different office from mine of course.
But for every one person finishing early, theres also another 2 coming in early and working over for free (mainly down to harassment). Truth is managers are mostly given free reign to do whatever the f**k they want.
My opinion is, clocking in/out if done properly is going to expose a lot of bad management/practices in many offices.
Can only hope so anyway.

Every scan produces a GPS point on the PDA actuals.

Sooo true. People have been sacked for this even with the old scanners that were only used for collections before PDAs were invented.

Sackings I know of
(1)The collection muppet would scan each of his collection points one after the other. Back then there were no GPS points. Lewis Hamiltion driving his F1 car would take 10 minutes to get from point A to point B. This guys scanned them 10 seconds apart
(2) They changed a barcode on one of the collection points but the postie kept scanning the old one he had in his pocket.
(3) GPS coordinates will catch you if you scan too far away from the scan point.

"Jealousy"....FPMSL.

It affects a lot of peoples lives because dumb-ass managers all too regularly use individuals who finish early or are deemed to be "quicker" as the gold standard in the office when in fact they are generally far from gold standard and that's speaking from experience of having that one thrown at me by numerous Muppet managers and having to deal with the fallout from customer complaints.

Manager "You left this on a doorstep and it's got wet"

Me "My day off"

Manager "Why did you put this through the customers window? It's broken an ornament".

Me "It was my day off"

Manager "Why haven't all your D2D's been done"?

Me "I was on holiday"

Manager "Why can't you ever complete"?

Me "I don't doorstep or put parcels through customers windows and do all my D2D's every week without fail"

Manager walks off muttering under their breath and the target on my back got ever larger.

Just before I finished the area manager and DIM were trying just that. Rep was fighting to stop them pulling 4 walks out of the office and all the area manager would come out with to every question the rep threw at them was the PDA actuals showing the number of hours not worked each day because people were finishing early. Completely ignoring the reps evidence of early starters, not using correct equipment, taking breaks etc. The only thing that they were interested in was hours not worked and utterly deaf to everything else.

The rep tried and tried to get people to do the job correctly but they just kept carving it up to finish early and all that happened was more division within the office and the atmosphere, from what I've been told, got worse and worse ever since.

Thankfully for them, in a weird sort of way, the pandemic hit and the planned revision had to be scrapped.

Give RM 5-7 years and they'll have forced in everything they have wanted with ADHC. Big brother at its worst.

It would have sufficed were it not for people taking photos of the Colod barcode with their phones :arrrghhh
After you have completed your delivery and collected from all the postboxes on your walk then scanning the Colod barcode in the office is your finish time as far as RM are concerned currently. So if you are going to do other work such as prep D2Ds etc after you return to the office don't scan the Colod until you are about to leave.

I'll bear that in mind for the future. :hmmmm I always assumed it was when you logged out, I always get everything tidyied away and handed in, visit to the gents etc before I log out. I've never had any problems with booking pressure that way but you never know how RMs looking at the figures. :cuppa

Good to know, because the Colod got moved to the door recently so scanning it is the first thing you do when you walk back into the office.
The machine stops.
