duty of care routine

Post by brothermagrew »

If they come the old duty of care routine with you in some given circumstances you could and should conveniently remind them that it was through managerial neglect in their duty of care towards you as an individual at the workplace that caused your absence in the first place and further contrary to what Royal Mail espouse in their literature namely that the health and safety of the individual is paramount this sadly due to managerial neglect of their health and safety duties does not appear to be the case.

They claim that they are concerned about you

i also belive they have no right to phone you at home regarding lets say how long you are going to be off etc.. no mater iff they do put a 'duty of care' slant on it :no no
They claim that they are checking up on how you are doing, so that they can offer any help neccessary. When in fact, they are pressuring you to return to work before you are ready. :mad

The irony, is that when one of us is off with something Stress related. Particularly Depression. It actually makes the illness worse, keeping him/her off work for longer than is neccessary. :arrrghhh :no no :hmmmm

True, there is a tiny minority of p*** takers, who would be caught out with this method. I'm quite sure that everyone on here knows at least one person like that. BUT THAT DOES NOT JUSTIFY TREATING EVERYONE IN THIS WAY, WHEN MOST OF US ARE TOO HONEST TO GO ON SICK WITHOUT A GOOD REASON!

WTL " Our " nurses and doctors can overule your GP , we'll have SOME work out of you even on reduced hours " . The Union view is RM work on the basis you've a "good " doctor , RM state ATOS apparently know better than your GP what you can or can't do because they are occupational health not General Practictioners .
Our policy is to remove the barriers

I've got HSA, so if I need to pay anyone for a consultation, and they overrule RM then tough titty to RM - it's my bloody health & future.....and as we've seen in the last few months, RM don't give a stuff about our futures!

NO.... In a word.... ATOS are a body of people that RM use and ATOS have you and i as Patients.... But RM as a So called customer... So they have a duel intrest.. I find it strange really..???? Its more of a conflict if RM ask them to ask you Questions about your health when You dont have to let RM see them... But then RM then say YOU aint helping yourself because your not being open with RM and this is like putting your head in a lions mouth.... A confict of intrests at best.... Our GP's rules when it comes to the law of the land... NO IT would over rule a DR unless totally out of order or bent...???? In my opinion....

couldn't agree more tommo, I accept RM have a few professonial claimers & scivvers , but there's a lot of very proud people from a once proud service that find WE DON'T GIVE ATOSS reprehensible .As for the lion's head bit -got it in one .

ATOS are used by RM to force people back to work, in Stoke they use the same office as the DHSS to do their assesments, and if you go for a DHSS assesment, guess what yep they do that as well on behalf of the DHSS, their ATOS assesment is done by a nurse, apparantly she knows more than a Doctor, but the tactics used by RM now are meant to bully and harrass you back to work, ringing you up at home, getting ATOS involved as soon as they can, and when you come back to work you have a back to work interview where you have talk to a manager who isnt really bothered about your condition, about how you feel, and then they drag you in and issue you with a stage warning, weve had people here who have been in hospital and they have still issued the stage warning, welcome to the future people, it only gets worse from now on, cheer up it could be worse, you could be a manager...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

Just had ATOS on the phone to book a telephone consultation, all they could offer me time wise was Friday 2pm no other choice, told the guy(sounded like he was from an Indian call centre) I was'nt happy about the time basically he said tough, nice customer service...........not!
Anyway off to the hossy tomorrow for my op & tests, lets see what the consultant has to say about Atos & there so called health care.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Like RM and it's relationship with the bulk mailers & the people at home, it's the corporation that is the customer, not the "little person" :evil/mad - if Friday at 2pm was not convienient to RM you betcha it would be changed to suit RM double quick

I was asked 3 questions by ATOS on the phone, she told me i needed to speak to someone else as she wasn't the correct person to deal with me.

She wrote the report anyway and i was told get back to work or you could lose your job. My gp signed me off for another month and now they have stopped my pay..
