I think he is saying a 12 Seater van / Minibus conveying 4 PassengersCedar_Room wrote:Seems legit although I do find the 4-seater van thing a bit confusing? Thanks for the update thoughbillycat wrote:We had our delivery sector manager in our office today he told us there is no way we will be going back to two in a van any time soon, he also asked us how many would be interested at starting at 4 and finishing before 12 so the afternoon staff would be able to use our vans, he said other offices re looking at bringing in 12 seater vans, apparently they are allowed to have 4 passengers in these vans, they are also close to an agreement with the CWU and the regulator regarding five day delivery of mail, seven day service for parcels, our office is going to become a parcel hub so we will be delivering parcels for two other delivery offices and, there will be no compulsory redundancies.

Won't some people want Saturdays off?.Cucumber wrote:I'd imagine there will be a very, very short queue for volunteering for anything, be it earlier starts, shift patterns given how the last few months have been managed.

Depends on what the kicker is. They might give you Saturday off, but you are on the 12-8pm shift Monday to Friday.Rommagic wrote:Won't some people want Saturdays off?.Cucumber wrote:I'd imagine there will be a very, very short queue for volunteering for anything, be it earlier starts, shift patterns given how the last few months have been managed.

which will be very interesting..... they had us downstairs this morning briefing us on the new ''pick up from customers'' being introduced. up to 3 pkts from 3 different customers on each delivery, and specials. (so could be up to 9 pkts) weighing up to 15kg each. this is being brought in next month, so October. posties on foot duties won't be able to carry those sort of weights so it going to be more work for drivers. s**t...proverbial fan..comes to mind.SpacePhoenix wrote:My gut feeling is that van shares won't return until at least February 2021Rommagic wrote:Just want 2 know the end date?

We've been told 5 pickups per walk, with maximum 5 per house = 25.daveyeff wrote:which will be very interesting..... they had us downstairs this morning briefing us on the new ''pick up from customers'' being introduced. up to 3 pkts from 3 different customers on each delivery, and specials. At the office I work in we were given the option of working in the afternoon, the perk for the full time staff was prep and deliver your walk and then your finished, we have been carrying nine vacancies so the full time staff like myself who opted to carry on working my normal hours it has been horrendous sorting packets and parcels most days for three hours before I get to my frame, there again it was my choice to carry on working my scheduled hours and as many people tell us we have a finish time, we had five new starters on Monday all were told to follow the work place coach around his town walk what a shambles, all these have nine month temporary contracts I don't know if that is standard practise?

To bring in the the 1st part of the above would requier a revision of duties & repick i.e Early Starts , Afternoon Deliveries , 5 Day Letter Deliveries / Packet Only Sats ( Sundays will be LAT Offices )billycat wrote:We had our delivery sector manager in our office today he told us there is no way we will be going back to two in a van any time soon, he also asked us how many would be interested at starting at 4 and finishing before 12 so the afternoon staff would be able to use our vans, he said other offices re looking at bringing in 12 seater vans, apparently they are allowed to have 4 passengers in these vans, they are also close to an agreement with the CWU and the regulator regarding five day delivery of mail, seven day service for parcels, our office is going to become a parcel hub so we will be delivering parcels for two other delivery offices and, there will be no compulsory redundancies.
Personally i think the afternoon deliveries will be Noon - 5pm
Possible changes to Processing & Distribution would also have an effect on Deliveries ,We will just have to wait & see whats been agreed
