Job just gets better- Collections whilst on Delivery
I have absolutely no idea why your manager has told you this. Maybe it’s because they didn’t know the answer so just made something up. HCT duties should not be performing consumer collections. It will be the responsibility of the driver who delivers the large parcels for the HCT duty.

Unless you use the phone functionality of the PDA you won't have any proof that you attempted to phone the office

Nhmm that's odd as I have NEVER been able to find the call logs on the PDA whereas it's an utter piece of piss on a mobile.

Call logs are probably stored elsewhere on the PDA or with whatever network the SIM card is for (Think they use Vodaphone SIM cards)Sir Henry wrote:Nhmm that's odd as I have NEVER been able to find the call logs on the PDA whereas it's an utter piece of piss on a mobile.

That's not true. HCTs will generally be expected to collect where possible. Remember you may be able to collect when returning empty to the office, or the collection may in fact just be a couple of letters. Obviously some offices may decide to just not have HCT duties perform Consumer Collections, but that would be the DOM's decision.number one wrote:I have absolutely no idea why your manager has told you this. It's perhaps worth reflecting on the long-term viability of HCT rounds in the minds of RM management given it will be a nuisance to organise this on a daily basis.
You'd have your record on your mobile if you chose to use that. That would be proof.Space Phoenix wrote:Unless you use the phone functionality of the PDA you won't have any proof that you attempted to phone the office
There must be a hell of a lot of reps on here because, as you rightly say, it's the glib response to 90% of 'what shall I do' queries on here. However because Consumer Collections, unlike standard mail/packets will be as easily a trackable metric, like Tracked, you can bet that whole swathes of middle management will be telling DOMs to make sure that they're all done. Not least because the customer will have an easily verifiable complaint if it isn't collected.Sir Henry wrote: The reason to worry is because the screws have a reputation for circumnavigating agreements to the detriment of us poor working stiffs.
Anyone who goes around with "Just cut off" on their lips is obviously our rep who's never there when it kicks off.

I thought these were internet shopping returns?DGH wrote: or the collection may in fact just be a couple of letters.
Who buys a couple of letters, tries them on, decides they don't like them and then returns them?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

They're anything you want to send is what our brief was. They may be expecting largely internet returns, but if you fancy sending your gran a card, so far as I'm aware, that's legit.

Our manager said the collection of packets from the customer is looking like a massive failure, I had a few the 1st week, but nothing since?

Neither have I.
I also have never had an ID verified item and I haven't seen an age verification item since last Christmas.

None for me either. To be honest if you were a member of the public would you actually be aware that we collect from doorsteps now?
If seen a few things but hardly seems RM have gone out and spread the word.

I have done one so far. Maybe they could find a company that could get advertising out to every household in the country to promoted the idea.

Re: Job just gets better- Collections whilst on Delivery
i did my first collection on delivery. it was a special delivery. got back to the office and got told to just stick it in the pile of mail where all the stuff from the collection boxes gets dumped. not scanned by me or anyone else at the office. i said i don't like that because if it goes missing i'm the last person to have had it. surely it should get scanned in the PHG?
