Their hope is in the 4 Pillars agreement which directed reps and management to focus on improving part time contracts.
The fact nobody has is a testament to the fact that neither side takes any notice of our national agreements. Negotiating them is a waste of time.
In his preamble to the 4 Pillars Terry Pullinger spoke about not pulling up the ladder on the next generation of postal workers.
It is quite clear that our colleagues and our union are the ones pulling that ladder up. It is shameful. It is anti-trade unionism.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Our daily working conditions are atrocious. Our T&C's and pay aren't that good. Just because Hermes or Amazon or whoever have it worse, doesn't mean we also have to roll over and have our tummies tickled. Thank you for the extra lapsing boss, please bully me some more boss.
We have better jobs to THANKS TO collective strength i.e. our Union.
Out of interest what other jobs have you had?
I've had quite a few over the years and never had sick pay like R/M offer, never had paid breaks which I didn't take and go home early instead, opportunity to buy extra holidays, all the other stuff on my bundle etc etc.
Yes there are irritating parts to the job but its relatively stress free and one of the better ones I've had
Sir Henry wrote:So when part timers do O/T that DOESNT prevent them from getting a full time contract.
Only old time full timers?
No full time contracts being dished out and RM supposedly aiming to make the job p/t doesn't come into it?
Don't get suckered in by the divide and rule horseshit.
Ask yourself why do the screws give the o/t to the old hands?
Don't get me wrong I think o/t should be divvied up fairly but the screws are idle and will go directly to those who pull them out of the s**t regularly.
Because they could argue to be made up as they have been doing those hours
What really annoys me is the moaning old timers on 4 day weeks or 9 day fortnights who work pretty much every day off they have aswell as having early ot and sa all sown up for themselves. A few in our office regularly boast of getting 30 + hours ot. What hope do newbies have
That's one way, but hasn't seemed to work for the p/t in our d.o. Took that very argument to our old Dom who said that he couldn't get HIS superior to agree to increase the number of f/t duties. I eventually managed to get him to institute a league table of those wanting overtime. Didn't last as people didn't get offered the o/t they wanted and/or cried off at the last moment so the management went back to the old faithful regulars who hoovered it back up.
"A third of the world's farmland is now useless due to soil degradation, yet we still keep producing mouths to feed. And what's you answer to that? Energy saving lightbulbs?"

Better than this in terms of pay, working conditions and terms.
That's why I know that we shouldn't settle for crumbs, no matter how bad some other jobs are.
We should be looking up and striving, not looking down and being thankful for what we've got.

Probably because he has to pay for the necessities of life.
Darn you done got me there.
Why wouldn't you get a job you enjoy, or at the very least could describe as "mildly below average"?
Bloody hell, why didn't I think of that?!
Tomorrow, I think I'll just "get" myself a job as chief pasty taster at Greggs. 60k a year for 2 days a week is what I fancy. After all what's stopping me, that's the way the real world works, right?

Yes, it is. If you don't enjoy your job then there are others out there. I'm not talking the best job in the world - but something that you don't hate is attainable. That is how the world works.

Thanks mate
How many other jobs have you ever actually applied for since hating your job for Royal Mail? If my memory serves me right there were loads of work around a few years ago.
I would still lime to know what is the obsession of striking
I would still lime to know what is the obsession of striking
Let's try to keep things cordial.
On a more serious note it's not an obsession with striking, it's an inherent human behavioral need to do something borne of a frustrating feeling of helplessness due to a complete vacuum of information.
Otherwise we're sick of doing f**k all and knowing even less.
It's a common problem in military deployment apparently. Don't have your guys hanging about too long with nothing to shoot at because they'll start shooting at anything that moves.
At the end of the day all most posties want is RM to abide by the last agreement and a small pay-rise in keeping with inflation and accepting changes as long as staff are well treated and not bullied as they are now for management bonuses!

So what do you really want a small payrise in line with inflation. or as you asked in another thread a proper payrise??

Well it's not a £200 bribe not to strike a proper payrise is not a one off but will carry over into basic pay overtime if you get it and pensions far too many on here and at my work place saw the carrot first and then became donkeys!

Have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
