In return Royal Mail management are hammering us wiith more backbreaking workloads, bullying, threats, and cuts to our pay and hours.
We did our bit for country. Shouldn't we be cut some slack?
New ceo is essentially doing the same thing but getting his right hand man (cwu) to push the agenda onto us.
Even if there is a major disagreement which i doubt, i feel it'll be hard to win the public in the current climate.
Automation is coming. Striking isnt going to stop it. IMO the threat of a strike will maybe tweak a few minor things in whatever is proposed. Deal will be done. Changes will happen. Just my uneducated gut feeling.

I'm a silly postie making silly statements to vent off some tension in a harmless way.aiden01 wrote: Why make a silly statement then??
I know some people dont believe CV19 is real, others say its 5G etc. I thought its was such an absurd statement that everyone would ignore it. My bad.
I get your point of mixing some real stuff with fruitcake type conspiracy theories. Wont happen again

What is this obsession of wanting to strike. Do you not realise there is a major ressesion coming? Do you honestly think that people would strike because I can assure you many in my depot including myself wouldnt. Do you think higher management would just roll over because you went on strike? What exactly do you want to strike for Anyway?
It seems to me the ones wanting to strike are the old timers who have never had another job so have no idea how well off they are. They also have the easiest duty, always work their days off and have all the SA and early OT wrapped up for themselves which stops any chance of P T workers getting a proper contract.

So when part timers do O/T that DOESNT prevent them from getting a full time contract.
Only old time full timers?
No full time contracts being dished out and RM supposedly aiming to make the job p/t doesn't come into it?
Don't get suckered in by the divide and rule horseshit.
Ask yourself why do the screws give the o/t to the old hands?
Don't get me wrong I think o/t should be divvied up fairly but the screws are idle and will go directly to those who pull them out of the s**t regularly.

If RM can get stuff covered on ot, what incentive do they actually have to make any pt up to ft?Sir Henry wrote:So when part timers do O/T that DOESNT prevent them from getting a full time contract.

I'm fed up up of this "you don't realise how good you've got it, we should be grateful" bullsh*t.
Our daily working conditions are atrocious. Our T&C's and pay aren't that good. Just because Hermes or Amazon or whoever have it worse, doesn't mean we also have to roll over and have our tummies tickled. Thank you for the extra lapsing boss, please bully me some more boss.
We have better jobs to THANKS TO collective strength i.e. our Union.

I guess you've missed in the news about the amount of people unemployed and when the furlough changes there'll be a load more unemployed. It's an employer's market atm. They'd probably get enough applicants to be able to replace us 10 times oversindba wrote:I'm fed up up of this "you don't realise how good you've got it, we should be grateful" bullsh*t.

What's atrocious about it? If your job can be described as atrocious, why on earth have you still got it?sindba wrote: Our daily working conditions are atrocious.

What difference does that make?I guess you've missed in the news about the amount of people unemployed
It's an unskilled job, Royal Mail never has a problem with the number of candidates applying for jobs, if 100 people or 1000 people are waiting to take your place again what difference does that make to our job security?

Regardless of any situation we are in, it doesn't mean royal mail can take the piss with the workforce and the agreements we have must be kept.
There has always been unemployment official figures will put it at 2.5 million but unofficially it's more like 6 million.
So for me, we are in dispute and striking now or getting an agreement is what is needed.
Plenty of D.O. managers are going to get a kick in the teeth soon when clocking in/out is brought in and is linked to the pda finishing time, spending is to be removed from their control
and you will only be paid if go beyond your finish time or have been authorised to start before your time. They will not be able to fiddle hours like they do now.

Because they could argue to be made up as they have been doing those hours
What really annoys me is the moaning old timers on 4 day weeks or 9 day fortnights who work pretty much every day off they have aswell as having early ot and sa all sown up for themselves. A few in our office regularly boast of getting 30 + hours ot. What hope do newbies have
