Sick procedure

When off sick, how long before you're required to attend a face to face meeting?
Also, when returning, how long does the absence have to be before you're entitled to a rehab plan that includes a phased return to work (reduced hours)?
Does this have to be specified/recommended on a doctors fit note or can it be agreed between yourself, union rep and manager?

Day 28 review • By this stage of the absence the employee and manager should have met face to face, if at all possible. Discussion should focus on any support that can be provided to help a return to work as early as possible. If not completed earlier, a referral for Occupational Health advice should normally be arranged at this point, unless an early return to work is anticipated

Screws like to have people in as soon as they can.

There's no set time for anybody to be given a rehab plan, it should depend on the illness, but having a medical certificate won't do any harm! (Although they don't have to adhere to it,

) But yes a rehab plan could be agreed between yourself, rep and the manager, better still if you can get it in writing so the Dom doesn't come the old " you can go back on to your normal duty after 2 weeks routine.

Lots of shoulds and ifs in there. If you're not up to a meeting before the 28th day don't sweat it. Although the screws will be having conniptions if the sacred 4 week target is exceeded but f**k those c***s with a pitchfork it's only sacred to THEM.
Beware the return the work plan, they have a one size fits all template of 4 weeks which CAN be extended (but not by much 2 weeks max). If you're not ready to return to full time work by the end of it, back on the sick you go and another stage warning for your trouble. Make sure your rep is always there and that they don't roll over for the screws. Getting railroaded into returning ASAP (I've seen them try to get folk to start immediately after the meeting without the chance of running it all past the doctor) is a possible outcome for the unwary.

Could someone answer this please , if I am off sick for a few days but ring in Saturday morning to say I am fit to return tomorrow, does the Sunday get counted as a sick day as I am actually returning on the Monday .
