Do we not have to accept there's not enough letters to justify delivering six days anymore? Nobody *wants* to see job cuts, but Terry like the rest of us has to be a realist. It's about limiting the damage, and avoiding conpulsery redundancies in my opinion. I think if you're full time doing your hours you'll be fine, if you rely on overtime like many (myself included) it's gonna be difficult. All SA contracts will go, for a start as staffing will be cut in two at least one of the days.Acca Dacca wrote:5 day week for letters is 100% coming imo
The writing was on the wall when Terry Pullinger went from defend the USO to conceding that it'd have to be looked at and be sustainable

You must be one of the offices that has seen the large drop in mail over the years whereas others haven't. Our Tuesday is now like a pre covid Monday, one of the busiest days when tons of crap turns up that used to turn up on Monday.clashcityrocker wrote:Does your rep believe Elvis is till alive? Where is the mail, because it isn't reappearing on any other day?

Theyve already shown and trialled what letter delivery day they want to drop. And despite the reps all saying it would be Tuesday not Saturday , suprise suprise it was Saturday, the day when most businesses are closed and they day more people are more likely to be selfish about managing to get off permanently even if it means thousands of cover duties goingcpg67 wrote:Or lose Monday letters .Tuesday to Saturday delivery, tracked and specials on Sunday and Monday with some sort of new duty structures.

Some offices seem to get the work we get nothing on monday 11.30 finish if you take a break when you have tied up and loaded a bit more tuesday 12.30/1 if you take your break thats with lapsing one walk. It can not go on we are going to need to change the way we work and the company need to get more work, discounting on quiet days could work later starts for packet only delivery drivers to counter the longer walks so job losses are at a minimum.

of course he's alive!...he works in a chip shop. the moon landings are obviously not a hoax cos thats where they are hiding the mail...and it reappears in ours every Tuesday. cos we've been hammered last few. i booked an hour and a half today.clashcityrocker wrote:Does your rep believe Elvis is till alive? Yeah actually the last few Tuesdays have been rammed.
They're holding it back aren't they, with a view to dropping Sat and Mon mail deliveries.
4 day mail, 7 day packets I reckon. Combined with an all-out assault on our pay, T&C's. There's trouble ahead folks.
