It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You haven't started yet. Wait till you've been doing the job a while and you'll know why people are pissed off.

Fair enough, I can accept that.

But slaggin someone off for workin on a Sunday has nothing to do with anyone else to be honest. They could be skint and need the extra money.

With your attitude you will become a manager within the 1st week, money, money, money thats all you've mentioned since you joined this forum...........you are entering the wrong job if you think you are going to make alot.

The makings of a S**B i think
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Yeah that's fair comment. I work on Sundays in a Mail Centre. It's the only OT I do, and need to do it to make ends meet. Cost of living is high in London. Would rather not do it. And I can understand why delivery posties might be doing D2Ds on a Sunday if that's the only way to make a bit extra, especially coming up to Christmas.
But it was the tone of your comment that might put people's backs up. Chill out mate or you might not be to popular when you start in your workplace.

that's exactly what :lfo & his
Image would want you to say & turn the clock back 80 years , RM use that other one you used , it's deliberately anti-union ; purely to impress .

You'll find out exactly what RM & their screws are really like and you'll soon come running cap in hand to the CWU if you've been stitched up or on a RTU

We'd a idiot @ the zoo, he might well have impressed the idiot MCM & personnel but He had to be told that if he took it on himself to try & be team leader when most of the lads lost a lot of money fighting it , the union would take a serious view of the matter , one word out of place & he'd be on a B&H .Left shortly afterwards moaning about no team work . Hope the job at Burger King suited him better .

This is a public service RM , not McDonalds

From a Non Posties point of view your point has merit. However Royal Mail are taking the water at the moment with Door To Doors which is why there are some strong feelings about it.

Main points are.

1. On the this part of the job we have not had a rise in payments since it started.
2. Royal Mail say we have to take them there is no option not to.
3. Royal Mail say we are underworked and overpaid. So underworked people are catching up on Sundays.
4. RM tried to take the payment away from us during the last round of pay talks and wanted to increase the amount we deliver. This is now going to be discussed early next year,
5. Royal Mail managers say that they should be prepped in you own time and the union dispute this.

So as you can see there is a Poltical stance within Royal Mail (as in workers V bosses) about this subject which is why D2D discussion and threads can get very heated.

TBH I was amazed when I first started how autocratic and inflexible Royal Mails Man Management system is, and I worked in the Forces where you can be sent off on life threatening tasks at the drop of a hat. But at least bosses and erks worked together to get the task done, RM from my viewpoint seems to be a case of B&H'ing to get the job done and therefore team spirit and working together is foreign territory to RM.
