It never ever will. They're too thick to realise. Give them 3 deliveries to do they'll just start even earlier and run even quicker.
i wonder how you would feel if it was your parcel or important letter that didnt turn up for three days because mr postie 'took some back'
Do you really think at somewhere like tesco they say to the boss 'aint got time to stack these shelves take it back to the stock room itll have to wait till tomorrow'

I have no issue with people cutting off in this job - do you? It's 99% of the time down to poor planning and management.
I've no idea what Tesco has to do with anything.

Yes
They literally do
They have their shift and when their shift finishes someone else takes over and continues to stack the shelves
They dont stack the shelves until theres no more things left to be stacked
Just like someone on a checkout doesnt continue to serve people for two hours after their shift finishes because more people have came into the store
They finish their shift and someone else takes over
An absolutely stupid point

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

I wouldn't put it past RM to try and outsource distribution at some point (even if it's just artic runs MC-MC and MC-RDC)

just this above!
but we've also delivered all our households inside 2 days making the rest of the week less stressful, and no lapsing even if they try to,
people need to utilise these easy mondays instead of the hope of getting a flyer and end up doing someone else's work

own goal!
we are not 24/7 delivery and if it does go to 3 days, that's management problem to sort out
i've seen many reserves doing doubles day in day out for months, how can they do this 5 or 6 days a week without going off sick with exhaustion or injury?
I'd be surprised if I had a 10% call rate yesterday. Missed entire roads. It's obvious, to me at least, that the Saturday thing will become permanent; probably add Sunday too at some point for parcels being delivered. It's one drastic change they can force though that'll save thousands of hours, but probably be welcomed by most. It'll sold on the idea we can work Monday to Friday, if that's what you want with the weekends becoming OT. New recruits will then have it written into their contracts that their attendance pattern will be anything over the seven days.

our union rep has been telling people today that the plan for our office is that those on a 4 day week will be moved over to 5 days (3 quarters of our office are on 4 days - mainly rurals).
how true this is and how much of these decisions are down to local agreements I am not sure. needless to say there were a lot of unhappy posties.
My feeling is that things like this will be local. Even when our office adopted the Saturday plan for the 'trial' period, those on three / four day weeks were left alone. It’s quite part-time heavy so forcing people on 20 hour contracts who do shorter weeks to suddenly stretch their hours out over 5 days would create trouble, because there are few deliveries that could be completed in four hours, let alone the 2.5 to 3 left on many days once the remaining prep is completed.
Another pointless Monday, started at 7, prep and tied up by 7.40, had a break (as i was waiting for specials) out at 8, back and left office at 11, being paid till 2.30
done shopping, will have lunch, go to gym and back home by 2.30 when my shift will end. something got to happen can't go on like this. End up doing double rounds or few loops of another walk
