Just wandered how other people feel, while this crisis has been going on all we have heard basically is deliver the parcels leave the mail, so I for one feel guilty when delivering cheap eye lashes from China instead of delivering hospital appointments, etc. I think Royal mail should tell the public to post everything second class as they can't guarantee a first class delivery, and quite often the first class gets delivered as slowly as the second class. So come on fess up to the public. Or if not charge a price in between the two.

Yeah great idea , let’s cut a revenue stream to the company that pays our wages .

Let's put it this way they went two in a van all over the UK it is non of our fault of COVID 19 happened or even the board of RM it is one of those things but we as a workforce have kept the nation running and profits up. And paid the wages of the feckless few hundred above the day to day operational staff/management who made this whole system work!

If 1st and 2nd got done away with then RM would probably go for a 3 day delivery span. They might then have special offices or special duties to prep walks and could potentially result in 8hrs actually out on delivery (no real need for the staff to do any indoor work)

One class of item , Next Day Delivery in The M C Collection / Delivery Post Code Area , Day After The Rest
Segragating items wastes time & money

The mail would still need segregating for that to happen as the intra will be mixed in with everything else

If we merged 1st and 2nd class and had next day in mail centre area and day after for rest of UK what if I wanted to send a birthday card to Scotland from Wales for next day? You telling me there's no way for it to arrive unless I send it special...

That would piss off the public wouldnt it... but I see what you mean.

Whistle/UKmail need to lose their DSA access before we start changing 1st/2nd class systems

It is said less than 10% of items from collections are 1st Class , take out the local items , left with possibly 5% of distant traffic
With M C ,s having a despatch time of around 10 pm , with an arrival time of around 3 am to process the items for that days delivery
You have around 5 possibly 6 Hour,s to get that item between M C,s , with falling traffic , do the costs of providing a next day delivery for the cost of a 1st class stamp stack up ?

No and going forward more importantly bearing in mind granny's postcard from Skegness gets to fly in a plane neither does the environmental impact.

Segregating 1st and 2nd is the point of the CFC, so what are you saying, the machine has a fault or dumb operators aren't keeping the segregated mail apart?
