The attitude of too many posties towards their fellow workers (or even human beings to be honest) just simply stinks. Too many would rather get one over on someone than act like the grown up adult they are supposed to be.

Bloody hell this is unbelievable. People jealous that others have life threatening illnesses and needed time away to shield. All this bollocks that people are broken from working through the pandemic. Jesus Christ man up..... what a big bunch of wimps. What the hell do you think Drs and nurse went through? What would you do if you were in the armed forces and facing the enemy on a battlefield. BROKEN - BROKEN cos you had to deliver a few extra parcels...... Jesus f***ing Christ unbelievable....... you don’t even know what broken is.

I'll tell you what hell is, losing one parent at the start of the pandemic and another one soon because they've had their chemo cancelled because of the pandemic, so don't rant at me with your foul language. I know what hell is. If anyone cared to read my previous post then you'd know. Your the heartless bully mate.GRS wrote:Bloody hell this is unbelievable. How do you know it’s type 2 diabetes?Acca Dacca wrote:A very ignorant postfrankieboy wrote:I'm going to be brutal now and if anyone takes offence then I apologise now. Yes there are a lot of unhappy postman at the minute, they are physically AND mentally broken having worked through this pandemic. In the early days we were working with little or no ppe having no idea how the virus was spread. Customers were even cleaning their letterboxes fearing that they could catch it from post and parcels . Now you might not like this one but people who have diabetics or coronary heart disease, like geordieboy and his mate is probably down to lifestyle they led, i.e.: smoking, drinking and eating unhealthy foods. Two people from our office who have diabetics have been off all this time and you used to see them shovelling in cakes, sweets and crisps most mornings. Someone else in our office who is shielding someone else has been away on 2 holidays, one in this country and one abroad. My holidays were booked during the lockdown so could not go away, I was not able to move them either or take them next year. As for the £200 ( 150 after tax) I don't think it is pathetic, posties see what they have gone through in the last 13,14 weeks whilst others have been off, nice weather, going away, having holidays moved to next year and extra money for nothing. If you don't like my brutal honesty then I'm sorry but other posties see it that way.thefox wrote:Guys in our office were furious because those of shielding received the 200 quid bonus pathetic really
Type 1 diabetes, unlike type 2, is nothing to do with lifestyle or what you eat or drink. You either get it or you dont and nothing you do can stop it.

I do agree with some of what your saying and for sure some colleagues are taking the piss. I'd say about 75% of the people who went off in my office had genuine reasons like Athsma and from being in their mid 60s. There was a small number who did take the piss though and now they are back in trotting around saying oh look how busy it is and moaning. I just want to say to them f**k off you should have seen how busy we were in April its halved about now. Plus we had reserves doing 3 different rounds per week with double mail each day. Honestly some people in my office deserve a medal and some deserve to get sacked!!frankieboy wrote:I'm going to be brutal now and if anyone takes offence then I apologise now. Apologies mate I missed answering your post, a return to work plan was agreed and I actually came back weeks earlier as they were chronically short of staff in the cluster.wallan wrote:Surely a return to work plan should have been agreed before your return
What you were paid during your time off is between R M & Yourself
It would seem the 4 other members of staff are quiet happy for you to start at 0930 as long as they retain there normal start times ,
What time do deliveries normally go out ? , are the deliveries normally out before 0930 allowing you to start earlier
What happened to the two reserves when you returned
This should have all been sorted before your return to work
Most times deliveries go out at 09.30 but sometimes there’s an overlap so we just wait outside until they’ve gone.
The DOM didn’t help matters as he told the others while we were off that he intended to put us on permanent lates but we argued against that during the return to work meeting but he never reported back to the others.

The OP said that his colleague had type 1 diabetes
The same colleague who is getting grief from other fellow posties.
Type 1 which cannot be treated by a change of diet and is not caused by anything other than bad luck and genetics
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

My Grandad had type 1 diabetes. He had to inject himself with Insulin every day but he lived until he was 90 and was fit and healthy. He worked as a milkman until he retired aged 68 back in the mid 70's.

Me and my mate feel fit and healthy but if we catch Covid then it’s more likely we will have complications that could be life threatening that’s why we were shielding, 90% of all Covid deaths were people with underlying health issues. I believe heart conditions and diabetes were the two biggest categories of underlying deaths, quite frightening.Ricardo44 wrote:My Grandad had type 1 diabetes. Those that are genuinely off shielding/self isolating should feel no shame and suffer no bullying. But there have been many in my office at least, that considered the virus as an excellent way to get some free weeks off and were quite happy to admit it (albeit on the quiet). For those of us that worked our @rses off through this pandemic and have never been off, it does feel like a slap in the face. So I can see why some people may get a bit irate about it if they mistakenly think some people have been swinging the lead?
Union what Union? Do we have a union?
