BURSLEM POSTAL WORKERS POISED TO STRIKE AGAIN?
The result of a ballot for strike action by postal workers was due in today.
About 100 members at Royal Mail's Burslem delivery depot have been balloted over the suspension of 12 colleagues.
Representatives of the Communication Workers' Union (CWU) said 'substantial' stoppages could be held this month if the majority vote to strike.
The CWU has formally notified Royal Mail of its actions because it believes not enough is being done to resolve the row involving 12 workers suspended over allegations of bullying.
Last month union leaders called on the support of CWU branches across England to set up a fighting fund to ensure any strike action by workers at the Burslem delivery office is sustainable.
Royal Mail said the investigations following the suspension of 12 workers in September were progressing in accordance with a process agreed with the union.
The company said the threat of further disruption would help no one.
