In a crew bus like we used to.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You could bring back bikes. That would make a lot of sense and potentially you could have one postie in a van with two on bikes using the van as a drop. Big U-turn though.

And back again, or would it be job and finish like the old days. Hell, I'll just use my car and sling a few bags in the back too

I think some kind of trike with storage capacity could be a solution in some areas, we've all seen the prototypes and those in use in other countries.

Small electric vehicles are also a possibility along with the traditional methods of pouch boxes and as Clash points out crew buses.

I don't think it can be a one size fits all solution but the business has just reiterated that reducing its carbon footprint is part of its future strategy so I'm guessing most of it will be based around what my mum used to call shanks's pony. A Scottish phrase you'll have to Google.

I might treat my customers to a second delivery.

For places like in London it'll almost certainly have to be battery powered because of the ultra-low emissions zone. Don't know if any other towns or cities have got any plans for ultra-low emissions zones in the pipeline

Like everything though, it will be a case of make it work for London/offices that get courier visits. Then good luck to the rest.

aye, i,ve been on 'shanks's pony' since they stopped van share few month back, and i,ve lost a stone and a half. fine by me. its a total of 1hr 10m walk to and from the delivery now, which also is beneficial as i don't have to do a 4hr 45m delivery anymore as that time is now ''walking time''....long may it continue in my view.

Never knew such a thing existed - Shanks Pony. Are they RM issue? I don't mean to sound negative but there is no chance that most people in our office would use anything like that, they'd complain that it infringes some sort of rights/working conditions.
