flexible working

Post by postmanplod69 »

When this flexible working comes in can we be forced to work past our finishing time for no pay? on average i work 3 days when i cant finish in time and book the protracted delivery sometimes up to 4 or 5 hours a week, when this so called flexibiltiy comes in can i refuse to work past my time if i wont be payed protracted delivery and if they say you give us 30 minutes and we will give you 30 mins back if i work over, what happens to the other 3 hours 30 that i am owed? also can we refuse to work past our allotted hours under european time directive as they are saying with the drivers 56 mph maximum speed?

your finishing time is your finish time.they can't make force you to work overtime.if they refuse to pay you excess then cut delivery off.i didn't vote to be flexable and bugger me i'm not going to be.

i intend too, just wish people in my office would realise that if you start at the correct time and do 20% of your d2ds every day and not use a car then you cant complete in time its impossible unless you have lots of full timers sorting mail and not throwing mail in for part timers.

From Royal Mail’s original proposal for 2 hours flexibility on an individual’s start and finish time we have now agreed that this would be limited to 30 minutes. This is on the basis that individuals ‘may be asked and is not in any shape or form compulsory’. It really is about all people working with a bit of give and take and only where there are genuine operational difficulties. Again, the implementation of this is subject to local agreement.

Variation of hours – Where necessary, for example when traffic volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis. Again, individual circumstances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual hours would not change.

Hope this helps.

was told by a senior manager that 30mins flexibility was voluntary but if you dont have a very good reason for not doing it they will consider the conduct code.its not really my idea of voluntary,so if everyone didnt want to do it are they gonna sack us all?
