Royal Mail : "Coronavirus will be gone by August".

Royal Mail "Our current expectation is that our normal approach to sick pay will apply for employees with less than a year’s service from 1st August 2020 where the virus would have disappeared, and everything has gone back to normal including screwing over our new starters."
our current expectation is that our normal approach to sick pay will apply for employees with less than a year’s service from 1st August 2020.
New sick pay regs for new starters...

The date of 1st August corresponds with the end of shielding (in England, Scotland and N.Ireland). This is the point that we would anticipate that employees with serious underlying ill-health will be able to return to work, hence the potential readoption of the normal sick pay terms and conditions from this point onwards.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

There seems to be an increasing list of places around the world that appear to have second waves so I don't think a second wave can be completely ruled out in the UK

They are absolutely kidding themselves if that’s what they think , local lockdowns galore and if it’s not under control by October , we’ll be in big trouble.

Well DOM's are already medical experts when it comes to whatever health issues any posties have and the length of time needed to recover from them, so it stands to reason that RM should be experts on unprecedented Global Pandemics and know exactly when they will be successfully eradicated.

It won’t be long before the last lot of new starters in our office are 12 months in. Not sure when the recruitment freeze cake in.

Added to 1st post, the reason is...

Looking more like "coronavirus will be back for a second wave by August". I read somewhere that we're only a couple of weeks behind Spain

With the way that the number of covid cases is quickly rising in Europe, my gut feeling is that it's a matter of when, not if that we have another national full lockdown
