Van sharing when 1 metre?

We have been told we can go back to van sharing when the 1 meter kicks in but only if we want to, they have said as long as we both wear gloves and a mask all should be ok, after all it’s not like we are in the van all day together and as driving instructors are going to be doing this then I suppose we could also but only off course if this was something both parties agreed to - I mean at the moment walks are sitting with a weeks plus mail at least and with 2 in a van we would certainly clear much more than what’s currently been done at the moment. And I know many of you’s will agree with me when I say everyone seems to have become so much lazier recently due to managers not managing and not giving a toss what’s going out and what’s getting left!

You should not be getting in a van together at all , the guidance for driving instructors is rightly strict and from what you’ve said , they clearly don’t know the actual procedure.

At the distance we would be in a normal rm van then it could take 6 seconds to become infected.

If you want to risk your health then that’s your problem but then again , it’s NOT just your health at risk , it’s anyone you could come in contact with.

I think you're just as likely to catch the virus through contact from the previous van user if the equipment (in terms of the van) is shared between users within a 72 hour period as you are from a colleague sitting beside you. Likewise the colleague you're working with but can't sit beside is touching all the bags, the regs, the van handles the same as you are... If they've got coronavirus, you're getting coronavirus, and vice versa.

Every morning when I go into the van whether someone else has used it or not, I use a couple of those soapy wipes that are supplied (but no-one seems to use), to wipe the steering wheel, door handle, indicator stalk and all the relevant switches and controls that are likely to have been touched. I don't know how effective the hand wipes are but I'm sure they help and they make me feel better.
