2 IN A VAN AGAIN?

Post by glass joe »

My van partner doesn't want to work with anyone in the van again, he's pretty much begging me to keep using the trolley after single use van stops because he pretty much finishes 2 hours early each day and only works 25 hours (full timer). I don't really mind but he do the lapsing i'm not taking any.

Managers are soft in my place, he comes in 10-20 minutes late every day, stays on his frame and managers don't tell him to do any IPS, finishes 2 hours early each day.

Does he honestly believe that that is going to be allowed to continue?
Is he one of those that when asked to work all his contracted hours he will claim he is being bullied?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You have to remember all the decisions the government are making are about money and nothing to do with health and safety.

Everything is going to revert to normal now even if the cases pick up again. Even the government are bored of it all as can be seen with them scrapping the daily briefings after today.

Well they're right idiots then - if he's not doing any IPS (if he's supposed to) then others are having to pick up that work, resulting in a double loss - him getting paid
for doing sweet FA and other probably having to do OT. It might be that others are happy to accept the OT but I look at from the point of view that I don't want
to work while somebody is getting paid for doing FA and getting an early stack.

Then because the office is paying out unnecessary OT, genuine OT worked might be getting 'denied' or 'forgotten' for other posties in another part
of the office who don't know what's going off and who get the regular 'Why can't you complete' / 'I'm not paying you OT for that, your duty was easily achievable / We're
lapsing today' conversations.

There's a few in our place that love the way things are just now, but they are effectively showing themselves the door if they want it to continue like that. They can carry on all they want, but they'd be the first to complain when they only get paid for their hours worked.

next month is in a week.

seats in vans are not 1m apart so not going to happen.

Can't see them going 'it's a 1m+ rule' then within 2 weeks going 'there is no rule'.

August 1st at earliest for us to go back to van sharing IMO.

if they bring 2 in a van back that's a hell of a risk when you think country wide how many posties there are its slightly different for refuse workers as there are only 2 or 3 wagons working an area where as you could have 30 or 40 vans on van share that's surely not wise
