Just query I guess aimed at those who had been in 12 Week Isolation.
I had an email today from my office saying that they wanted me to ring them to chat about my Return To Work. (Tbh my phone has been in airplane mode to stop the idiots bugging me)
I've currently been shielding now for 13 Weeks on a Doctor's letter.
I haven't spoken to them yet but I'm wondering if this is it,
everyone back to work at the end of the month?
Vulnerable or not. No questions or excuses.
Makes me wonder if the Government is just going to push and if there is a second peak, so what?
Has anyone else on here that's been shielding been called up yet to discuss their return?
Cheers, Jim

The contact advice depends on which category you are in & whether you have the gov/nhs letter.

I'm watching BBC Breakfast and within the last half hour or so Dan Walker has been doing a live interview with Matt Hancock who said that everyone who has been shielding will be getting another letter sent out to them. Hope this helps.

The government is set to cease its ‘shielding’ programme for those at highest risk from coronavirus at the end of July, HSJ has learned.

An official government announcement on shielding is expected shortly, with letters to those who are shielding due to be sent out next week.
Scary times for some.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The 12 week period from the letter is due to end on the 30th June
A letter is supposed to be sent out next week to extend that period to the end of July if you're clinically extremely vulnerable and have to shield. For some reason the government has left this till last minute (unlike the furloughed workers who are potentially off work till October
) so perhaps its not surprising that RM managers have got in on the act first and perhaps pressure staff into going back to work earlier than planned.
Its your choice whether you return to work and RM should offer you some flexibility to what hours you should work as well. Reading the news, apparently bus drivers are twice as likely to die from the average man due to this virus so it might make more sense to stay away from the office and try and work from home.

Thanks for all the replies on this.
So after today's Government briefing it does look like August 1st will be it.
Everyone shielding, back to work.
It's taken time for the announcement but I guess at least it gives people time to prepare and adjust.....

I'm thinking if you haven't got the new August 1st NHS shielding letter, your office could easily stop your pay.steviep15 wrote:Anyone able to clarify if royal mail are stopping sick pay whether youve got the august 1st letter or not?
Also the days absent won't be classed as Covid-19 coveri, so will be a separate absence.
