I know the box was there first, same as many other things but life goes on and buildings/streets improve/change over time, why not a box?
Especially now that RM is a private company, I don`t see why it can`t be moved.
Of course, that`s just my point of view, that box is now in front of a gate.

The owner knew the box was there when he installed the gates.Janet Brum wrote:I know the box was there first, same as many other things but life goes on and buildings/streets improve/change over time, why not a box?

If I decide to fit some gates next to the bus stop should the bus stop have to be relocated?
What about a pedestrian crossing?
How far do you allow people to manipulate their surroundings to suit themselves?

I agree with you but upon checking google maps, I don`t see any other option for the gates location.

You've got a Virgin cabinet to the right, 2 cabinets to the left (BT or Virgin) which would suggest that numerous telecoms cables run along that strip which would mean that moving the box to one side will be near on impossible. The presence of the bench suggests that the strip of land is owned by the council.
There's no dropped-kerb there so someone could quite legally park on the road in front of the gates.
Why have the garages been built? Looking on the City Council planning page, they've twice been refused permission for the garages
Also do they actually own the land leading to them garages? The site plan on the council website suggests that between the gates and where the garages are is a completely separate plot of land

There’s a bit box near the corner and next to it is virgin.
The council seem they don’t want to enforce and want to accept it.
They don’t own verge(infact 15 years back the bought wall forward and made verge smaller to annoyance of locals- but highways let it through) the gates hit the postbox regurly and dents it! Frustrating council hasn’t enforced it and is thinking of passing it now !

why didn't the home owner put the gates on the left of the postbox?Woody Guthrie wrote:The box was there first Janet.Janet Brum wrote:Hopefully that box can be moved few meters to the left, it`s clearly blocking those`s people`s gate.
It should be Birmingham City Council: https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Would it be worth finding out who owns the land between the garages and the kerbside?

Because of the other 2 boxes on the left, check on google maps to make an idea.
