'Losing pay for worked overtime'

I have been told that no overtime is paid in the southeast offices (which i know is true in ours you cant claim for going over) or work your day off which makes us short as we also run the office on people working their days off.
I find the whole thing totally unfair (being polite) and i would like to know why there is such a difference nationwide?

Tell the manager if you don’t think you can complete in duty hours and what would they like you to do if you can’t, they should ring you and ask how your getting on, either get someone to cover if you need to finish or they can pay extended or it comes back for the next day, should be universal. If you are happy to extend tell them before leaving and ask if they wish you to, it’s upto them to manage.

So who IS actually doing the work you can't complete if they're not paying anyone to do it? Surely the whole office is not completing on time? If so, I want a transfer coz we are as busy as November here!
