Parcel force packages

I did hear that ParcelForce were being offered £22 per hour to deliver 6o pkts per hour, which seems achievable in an urban/suburban area.

I wonder if we'll be offered the same incentive for taking excess work off them? :hmmmm

60 pkts a hour that's funny
A busy town centre route could not do that
Yes Saturday rates are at 22 per hour not sure if it's the same this week as I don't work sats or Sunday
We are all made to work a automated route planner now rex so we could have have 3 stops on a street but we can not deliver them at the same time rex gives you random delivery time even if you have number 10 on the street at 10 am you could be delivering number 12 at 3pm in the afternoon so this is slowing our deliver rate to maybe 8 to 10 per hour before cv19 on average 15 per hour
Anyway the depo can not get any more parcels inside night staff been doing 14 hour shifts most nights
Most drivers average about 100 to 120 stops per shift
Our van are being loaded in the mornings with 150 to 170 plus each day so time is wasted taking of delivery drops can not be caged as running out of cages floor space and safety of 2meter rules
So yes parcel force is really behind on service
Most courier firms are to be fair to much demand
We have to you rex auto because we can not go on the computer in the morning and plan our own route how you would do it better becasuse of cv19
So yes parcel force are in a bit of a mess

We know that feeling  I was talking to a Hermes driver the other day, he's doing double the drops from last year, says the money is great but he cannot keep doing it as he's basically burntout

Janet Brum wrote:That`s true, I`ve seen the local PF driver many times with about 10 parcels in his van, not even big, I had much bigger/heavier parcels in mine.

And he always loads 1-2 of them on a trolley...

Maybe they should merge into RM ...
Every Parcelforce route has a BSI. This is a minimum requirement figure, I very much doubt a route has only 10 stops on it. Even the most rural routes in our office have over 30 stops on an 8 hour duty.

Really???? How could any Parcelforce driver work at 1 delivery per minute? Achieving 20 deliveries per hour is good going in any housing estate.

60 packets per hour sounds physically impossible unless

1. You know the area off by heart and you stack your van perfectly by number order

2. You just dump parcels on a doorstep and run

All it takes is 1 customer to not be in for you to have to check the system for a safe place and find a shed ect. Then write a card to let them know it's in their shed. Also look at the fact there might be nowhere safe to leave it so you have to take it back to the sorting office and note leave it. That takes 2 minutes at least

60 packets an hour? So one per minute? 20 is achievable; 30 if you know the area, there's no traffic and you happen to catch the vast maority in.

I average around 45-50 an hour in the suburban/semi-rural areas and villages that I cover

In an area you're familiar with and usually with multiple parcels for some addresses reducing the overall number of calls, then 60 per hour is perfectly achievable to anyone with a basic standard of competence and intelligence and the incentive of getting £22ph for doing it.

20 per hour on a housing estate would be an absolute piss take.

I agree with the last statement provided packets can be left with a concierge or reception. If you have to tackle multiple floors and out of order lifts in a large buildings and have your packets spread all over the place it is not so much of a piss take anymore. Still 20 per hour doable

Out of 100 plus drivers at our depo owner drivers as well not many can do more then 30 stops per hour
Depends on area and volume
Our depo is in a small city compared to London or Birmingham so maybe tighter drops
Also 40 or 50 per hour single parcel drops you must be taking off all screfix rads boilers and all ball ache stuff
