Well, got my first one today. Stood at the door and scanned item, ready to knock, it then pings that I need to deliver the item to an address, two miles away, that is not even on my delivery. Knock the door and she's in anyway. Is this what we're going to get daily?

Can you turn the volume right down so you don’t hear the ping?

I'd imagine that there'd be a cut-off time for redirection requests to be received when they're on an different walk. Probably based on the A+ data so the system would know what walk each address is on2yearpostie wrote:fraid so, but as i understand if its not on your route you dont have to deliver it.cheekymonkey91 wrote:Well, got my first one today. So somebody in the office is going to receive these redirection requests in the morning and retrieve the item from duty A (original delivery point) and give it to duty B (requested delivery point), no chance of that going wrong is thereGrumpyoldmailman wrote:4am apparently.SpacePhoenix wrote:I'd imagine that there'd be a cut-off time for redirection requests to be received when they're on an different walk. Probably a likely scenario is that the first runs to DOs from MCs will be pushed back so that no packets arrive at a DO before 4amA2B wrote:So somebody in the office is going to receive these redirection requests in the morning and retrieve the item from duty A (original delivery point) and give it to duty B (requested delivery point), no chance of that going wrong is thereGrumpyoldmailman wrote:4am apparently.SpacePhoenix wrote:I'd imagine that there'd be a cut-off time for redirection requests to be received when they're on an different walk. We don't receive anything till long gone that time but i'm unclear as to what difference that makes?SpacePhoenix wrote: Probably a likely scenario is that the first runs to DOs from MCs will be pushed back so that no packets arrive at a DO before 4am

My understanding is that when this is fully operational and working properly all tracked items will have to be scanned at the DO after 4am. When scanned as ready for delivery any items with in flight instructions will be flagged up on the PDA straight away and therefore redirected straight away and sorted to appropriate duty. There will also be options for customer to collect from callers office or select an alternative delivery date.

From what I’ve been told it’s the ready for delivery scan that is done at the delivery office that has to be done after 4am. No reason I can see why that would have any affect on arrival times of the work into DO’s.A2B wrote:We don't receive anything till long gone that time but i'm unclear as to what difference that makes?SpacePhoenix wrote: Probably a likely scenario is that the first runs to DOs from MCs will be pushed back so that no packets arrive at a DO before 4am

Anyway we’ve been told to keep scanning before 4am at the moment because this hasn’t started yet so I’m surprised some people are getting told to redirect when scanning on delivery.

Obviously have to wait and see what the offical process is but unless they are seperated at the MC and clearly labelled i see trouble aheadZicomurphy wrote:My understanding is that when this is fully operational and working properly all tracked items will have to be scanned at the DO after 4am. They'll have to be done in the DO. If the deadline for in-flight redirections is 4am, a few k of Tracked will have already been scanned. There won't be any separation in any caseA2B wrote:Obviously have to wait and see what the offical process is but unless they are seperated at the MC and clearly labelled i see trouble ahead
